I had trouble getting through to NYS Department of Labor when I needed my 1099-G form last year. Kept getting busy signals and their online system was down. Finally used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get connected to an actual agent. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Got my tax form issue resolved in like 20 minutes instead of spending days trying to call.
I had such a nightmare trying to get through to NYS Department of Labor when my claim got stuck. Spent hours on hold every day for weeks. Finally found this service called Claimyr at claimyr.com that actually got me connected to an agent in like 20 minutes. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Honestly saved my sanity.
THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN!!! They expect you to live on $500/week when rent alone is $1200. Meanwhile politicians get their full salaries. Makes me sick how they treat working people in this state.
Have you looked into the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act programs? They sometimes offer income support during training for in-demand careers. Also check if your county has any emergency assistance programs for displaced workers.
I had such a nightmare trying to reach NYS Department of Labor when I needed to clarify my benefit status last year. Kept getting busy signals for weeks. Finally used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that actually got me through to a real person at the unemployment office. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Saved me so much frustration dealing with the phone system.

Getting through to NYS Department of Labor by phone can be really difficult if you have questions. I had trouble reaching someone when I needed help with my claim status. A friend told me about claimyr.com - it's a service that helps you get through to actual NYS Department of Labor agents. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Might be worth checking out if you run into any issues.
