idk if this helps but i'm seeing a ton of remote jobs now that weren't available before. worth expanding your search beyond local companies
Just wanna say we're all in this together. This pandemic has been brutal on so many of us. Don't give up hope - something will come through. Sending positive vibes to everyone still struggling. 💪
Thank you for this - honestly needed to hear something positive today!
I'm a claims adjudicator (not in NY). Generally any time you're not working through no fault of your own, you may qualify for UI. Quarantine due to workplace exposure typically qualifies. Make sure to answer all questions honestly and if in doubt, include more info in the comments section of your claim.
I swear the ny unemployment website was designed by sadistic trolls who want us all to suffer. Good luck figuring out which options to select for your situation - it's like a choose your own adventure that always ends with DENIED.
LMAO so true. I feel like I need a PhD to understand half the questions they ask.
The website is trash but talking to an actual human on the phone helps so much. They can override stuff in the system the website can't do. I ended up using claimyr.com since I couldn't get through on my own.
Anyone else notice the overpayment amounts are often wrong? They claimed I owed $2,970 but when I finally got to speak to someone, they admitted their calculation was incorrect and it was actually only $1,200. Always question their math!
How did you challenge the calculation? Did you have to provide specific evidence?
I went through all my payment records with a fine-tooth comb and made a spreadsheet showing exactly what I received vs what they claim I received. Had to talk to 3 different agents before finding one who would actually review it properly.
I finally got through to someone at unemployment yesterday using Claimyr (claimyr.com) after months of trying everything else. The agent told me they're extremely backlogged with waiver requests but they ARE processing them. She looked up my waiver (submitted in July) and told me it was approved but the letter hadn't been sent out yet! It's the best money I've ever spent to finally get my benefits paid quickly. If you're waiting, definitely try to speak with an agent directly - sometimes your waiver is actually processed but the notification system fails.
So I was about to throw my phone after 3 hours on hold when my friend told me about this service. Used it yesterday and actually spoke to someone who helped me. Still in shock that it worked after months of trying.
can confirm this works. used it last week and got my overpayment issue resolved in one call after months of getting nowhere
This might sound crazy but has anyone tried using a different wifi network? I couldn't file at home for weeks, then tried at Starbucks and it worked immediately. Now I wonder if certain IP ranges are getting blocked or throttled.
OMG this might explain a lot! I can never file at home but it worked at my parents' house! 🤯
Hate to be that person, but I think some accounts are just permanently messed up in their system. I had to create a whole new account after 2 months of errors. Lost some payments in the process but at least I can file now.
You have to call and speak with a supervisor - only they can create a new account that links to your old claim. Took me forever to get someone who knew how to do this though.

Stop wasting time on the phone. It never helps. I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) after 3 months of getting nowhere and had my issue fixed in one call. talking to an agent got my $ unlocked so fast

•Yeah, I was in the same boat as OP. Stuck in pending for months, savings drained. I was desperate enough to try anything. You pay them and they keep calling the unemployment line until they get through, then they connect you with the agent. Better than spending hours on hold yourself.
