Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. you might want to look into constructive discharge too. if they're making working conditions so bad that any reasonable person would quit, that could be treated like being fired instead of quitting
Good point about constructive discharge, but that's an even higher bar to meet than good cause. You'd need to show the employer deliberately made conditions intolerable to force you out.

They don't publish their rates but it was reasonable considering I got actual help instead of wasting my whole day calling. The agent was able to explain exactly how my benefit rate was calculated and why it was lower than I expected.
The whole unemployment system in this state is a joke honestly. They make it so hard to get basic information and the website is constantly down when you need to file your weekly claim. Then they wonder why people get frustrated with the process.
I feel you on that. But at least the benefit amounts are decent compared to some other places. Just wish the system worked better for actually getting the money.

It's worth it just to get real answers instead of guessing what you're supposed to do. The agent explained exactly what NYS Department of Labor was looking for in my appeal.
I went through this last year when they said I was fired for misconduct which was total BS. During the appeal hearing I got to tell my side and my former employer had to prove their case too. The judge ruled in my favor and I got all my back benefits. Don't give up if you think the initial decision was wrong!

Make sure you have all your employment info ready when you apply - employer names, addresses, dates of employment, reason for separation, etc. The application asks for a lot of details and if you mess something up it can delay your claim.
