This thread is super helpful - I was having a similar issue with my account but didn't realize it might be a data mismatch problem. Definitely going to look into that Claimyr service if I can't get through normally.
UPDATE: I ended up using Claimyr and got connected to an agent who found the problem right away. Turns out there was a typo in how they had my SSN stored in their system. Fixed in 10 minutes! Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions.
So glad Claimyr worked for you too! It's such a relief when you can actually talk to someone who can fix the problem.
Remember that you can collect unemployment for a maximum of 26 weeks in a 12-month period (or until your benefit year ends). After that you'd need to requalify with new earnings if you're still unemployed.
thanks everyone this thread has been really helpful for understanding how the benefit calculation works. seems like most people get a reasonable amount based on their previous wages
Thanks for starting this thread! I learned a lot about severance and unemployment that I didn't know before. Definitely saving this for future reference.
Just want to say hang in there OP. I know it's stressful not knowing when money will come. Most people do get their first payment within 2-3 weeks if there are no complications. Keep filing those weekly claims and check your account regularly for any messages from Washington ESD.
One more thing - if you need to contact Washington ESD for any reason, definitely try Claimyr or similar services. I wasted literally days trying to get through their phone system before giving up. Sometimes you just need to talk to a real person to get answers about your specific situation.

One more thing - if you get a letter about any kind of hearing or appeal deadline, take it seriously! Those deadlines are firm and if you miss them you lose your chance to fight any negative decisions.

•Hopefully I won't need to deal with appeals, but good to know. Thanks for all the help everyone!

Good luck with everything! The process seems overwhelming at first but it gets easier once you get into the routine. File that initial claim as soon as possible - you can't get benefits for weeks before you apply.
