The most important thing is to be patient and persistent. Washington ESD processes thousands of claims and sometimes things get delayed, but if you stay on top of your weekly filings and job search requirements you'll eventually get your benefits.
One last thing - if you do have to call Washington ESD directly, try calling right when they open or during lunch hours. Those seem to be the best times to actually get through.
keep all your paperwork from both programs organized. if there are any questions later youll want documentation of exactly when you switched from one to the other
Honestly this whole thread has been super helpful. I'm in a similar situation with a different type of medical issue and wasn't sure how to handle it.
The general principles apply to most situations where you're temporarily unable to work due to medical reasons while on unemployment.
Definitely recommend talking to an actual Washington ESD agent through Claimyr or however you can reach them. Gets you official answers instead of just forum advice.

This whole thread is gold. Should be required reading for anyone who loses their job in Washington state.

One final note - I had to use Claimyr again last week for a different question about my weekly claim, and it's still working great for actually reaching Washington ESD staff. Way better than the regular phone nightmare.

•The regular phone system is broken. Services like that are the only way to actually talk to someone.
