Just want to add that if you're worried about payment timing, definitely don't wait until the last minute to file your weekly claim. File as early as possible in your filing window.
Three months in and I finally have my payment schedule down to a science. File Sunday evening, payment hits Wednesday morning like clockwork. The key is consistency in when you file.
hope everything works out for everyone dealing with this stuff. unemployment is stressful enough without worrying about whether your education level affects your benefits
Final thought - keep in mind that educated unemployment often reflects broader economic issues rather than individual failures. The job market for new graduates has been challenging for years, and it's not a reflection of your worth or qualifications. Stay positive and keep applying!
washington esd has really improved their system over the past few years the online portal is actually pretty user friendly now
Last thing - if you have any questions during the application process, there are help links throughout the online form. Don't guess at answers, use the help resources.
This thread has been super helpful! I've been scared to take on any freelance work but sounds like it's actually encouraged as long as you report everything properly.
For anyone who does run into issues or has specific questions about their situation, I really can't recommend Claimyr enough. Having a real person at ESD answer your questions instead of trying to interpret the website or wait weeks for an online message response is invaluable.

Final piece of advice - keep copies of everything. Your application, any correspondence from Washington ESD, your job search logs, everything. If there are ever any issues, you'll want that documentation.

•Digital copies are fine as long as you have them organized and accessible. I keep a folder on my computer with all my unemployment stuff.

Hope everything works out for you! Getting laid off sucks but unemployment benefits really do help bridge the gap. And remember, if you need to talk to Washington ESD for any reason, services like Claimyr can save you a lot of time and frustration with their phone system.
