My advice is to call ESD directly if you have questions about your specific benefit amount. The general information online helps but every case is a little different.
That's exactly why services like Claimyr are so helpful. They handle all the phone calling frustration for you so you can actually talk to someone at ESD when you need to.
Bottom line - file your claim as soon as you can and don't worry too much about the exact dollar amount until you get your determination letter. The most important thing is getting the process started and making sure you do everything they require to keep getting benefits each week.
Thanks everyone for all the helpful info! I'm going to file my claim tomorrow and just see what happens. This has been really helpful to understand what to expect.
Thanks for posting this question. I'm in a similar situation with about 5 weeks left on my claim. It's helpful to know definitively that there aren't extensions available right now, even though it's not the answer I was hoping for.
One last suggestion - if you haven't already, make sure your LinkedIn profile is completely up to date and you're actively networking. Sometimes opportunities come from connections rather than job postings.
For anyone who can't get through to Washington ESD by phone to ask about taxes, Claimyr has been a lifesaver for me. Got connected to an agent in under 10 minutes last week when I had questions about my claim.
Bottom line - unemployment is taxable federally but not in Washington state since we don't have state income tax. Set up the 10% withholding to avoid a surprise at tax time. Simple as that.

If you're really stressed about timing, you might want to look into local food banks or emergency assistance programs while you wait. It can take the pressure off a bit.

•Good suggestion. The waiting period can be really tough financially.

•I hadn't thought of that. Hopefully I won't need it but good to know it's an option.

Just remember that even if your claim takes a while to process, you'll get paid retroactively for all the weeks you filed (except the waiting week). So don't give up!

•That's really good to know! I was worried about losing out on weeks while waiting.

•Exactly! As long as you keep filing those weekly claims, you'll get paid for all eligible weeks once it's approved.
