Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. PSA for anyone reading this thread - if you're currently collecting unemployment, log into your Washington ESD account and set up tax withholding NOW. Don't make the same mistake we all did!
Absolutely agree. This thread should be required reading for new unemployment claimants.
Definitely wish I'd seen this advice 8 months ago when I started my claim.
Update on my earlier comment about Claimyr - I used them again yesterday to get through to Washington ESD about updating my tax withholding preferences. Super quick process and the agent was really helpful explaining how it works. Worth checking out if you need to make changes to your claim.
I might give them a try. Still have some questions about my claim that I haven't been able to get answered.

Thanks everyone for all the advice! I feel much more confident about handling this question now. Going to practice my explanation and focus on the positive aspects of how I've spent my time job searching.
You'll do great! Just remember that unemployment is temporary and you're actively working to change your situation.

This thread was really helpful for me too. I'm about to start interviewing after 6 months on unemployment and was worried about the same thing. Nice to know I'm not alone in this situation.

For what it's worth, I've found calling Washington ESD first thing Monday morning around 8:05 AM gives you the best chance of getting through. Still takes persistence though.
Thanks for the tip! I've been trying at random times without much strategy.
Mondays are definitely better than Fridays. But honestly, services like Claimyr are worth it if you need to get through quickly.
Just want to add that if you worked in multiple states, your claim might take longer to process because they have to coordinate between state agencies. Something to keep in mind.
I only worked in Washington so hopefully that won't be an issue for me.
You should be fine then. In-state claims are much more straightforward.

Final thought - that claimyr service I mentioned earlier has a video demo that shows exactly how it works. Might be worth watching even if you don't use it, just so you know what options you have if the waiting gets too stressful.
