Just want to emphasize what others have said - NEVER hide income from Washington ESD. They cross-reference with employers and tax records. It's not worth trying to game the system.
If anyone else needs to talk to Washington ESD about partial benefits or work reporting, that Claimyr service mentioned earlier really does work. Used it last month when I had questions about how my seasonal work would affect my benefits.
Hope everything works out for you! The waiting is definitely the hardest part but most people do get approved if they were legitimately laid off. Keep us posted on how it goes!
Will do! Thanks again for the Claimyr recommendation. I'm feeling a lot better about the whole process now.
PSA for anyone reading this thread - if you're currently collecting unemployment, log into your Washington ESD account and set up tax withholding NOW. Don't make the same mistake we all did!
Update on my earlier comment about Claimyr - I used them again yesterday to get through to Washington ESD about updating my tax withholding preferences. Super quick process and the agent was really helpful explaining how it works. Worth checking out if you need to make changes to your claim.

I'm dealing with a similar situation and finally got through to ESD using Claimyr last week. The agent was able to set up a payment plan that prevents them from taking my refund as long as I stay current. Worth every penny to avoid losing my entire refund.

•That gives me hope! I'm definitely going to try Claimyr tomorrow. Did the agent explain why the overpayment happened in the first place?

•In my case it was because I didn't report some part-time work correctly on my weekly claims. The agent walked me through exactly what happened and how to avoid it in the future.

Just remember that even if they take your refund, you can still appeal the overpayment itself. The offset and the appeal process are separate things. You have rights even after they've collected the money.

•That's good to know. I was thinking once they took the money that was it.

•Nope, you can still fight it. Though it's obviously better to resolve things before they get to that point if possible.
