I was in a similar situation last summer when my school district switched bus contractors. Getting through to PA UC was impossible until I used Claimyr.com. They connect you with UC agents by basically waiting on hold for you, then call you when they get someone. Saved me days of frustration and got my claim fixed in one call. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/CEPETxZdo9E?si=WL1ZzVZWG3KiHrg2. Worth it when you're dealing with something complicated like a company buyout situation.
Does that service actually work??? I've tried calling UC like 50 times for my issue and it's ALWAYS busy!!!
UPDATE: Finally got through to someone at UC this morning! For anyone with a similar situation: they told me that when there's a company buyout/acquisition, they need to review the claim manually to establish the "successor employer" relationship. The agent put notes on my claim explaining the situation and said it should be resolved within 7-10 days. She also told me to continue filing my weekly certifications in the meantime even though they'll show as "pending" until the issue is fixed. Thanks everyone for your help!
I used that Claimyr service someone mentioned above. Honestly didn't think it would work but it did! Got a call back when they reached an agent.
i had an appeal last year and my hearing wasn't scheduled for like 10 weeks after it was accepted!!! its sooooo random how they do it
The timing varies by office, but you can actually check your appeal status by calling 1-888-313-7284 and selecting the appeals option. They should be able to tell you if your hearing has been scheduled even if you haven't received the notice yet. Sometimes the mail is delayed, but they can give you the info over the phone. Also, for the original poster - continue filing your weekly claims while waiting for the appeal hearing! If you win, you'll only get paid for weeks you properly certified.
Yes, those "pending appeal decision" weeks will automatically process if you win your appeal. Keep filing! To answer your earlier question about written statements - while not required, it can be helpful to prepare a brief (1 paragraph) written statement explaining: 1. What happened with the error 2. Your actual availability for work 3. Why this was clearly a mistake You can reference this during your hearing to make sure you don't forget important points when nervous. The referee may also allow you to read it, though they'll still ask follow-up questions. Hearings for availability issues are almost always conducted by phone now. You'll call into a conference line at the appointed time, and the referee will manage the call. Be in a quiet place with good reception.
Just got my card yesterday after waiting almost 4 weeks! The system is so slow right now but at least the money is already there when the card finally arrives. Hang in there!
UPDATE: My card finally arrived today! Exactly 17 days after my first payment was approved. The envelope really is plain white with just a return address from Tennessee - I almost missed it! Thanks everyone for your help and reassurance.
i would just keep claiming weeks and wait it will probly fix itself thats what happened with my brothers claim the system is just slow sometimes
This is unfortunately incorrect advice for this specific situation. When weeks are in this "limbo" status after refiling, they will NOT automatically fix themselves in the system. They require manual intervention by a claims examiner. Continuing to file for current weeks is good advice, but without contacting UC about the missing weeks, they could potentially be lost.
UPDATE: Finally got through to someone at UC! The agent confirmed what @helpfulUCexpert said - those weeks were stuck in a review status because of the transition between claim years. They weren't showing on my summary page because they were flagged for manual review. The agent was able to see them in their system and has now pushed them through for payment! For anyone with a similar issue - don't assume the weeks are gone just because they don't show up on your summary page. They might be in the system but not visible to you. And definitely keep trying to reach someone because these weeks won't process automatically.

Update: I managed to get through to someone at the Referee Office this morning. They confirmed it's a phone hearing and that they'll use the number on file. I also asked about submitting my documents late, and the person said I could email them today with "URGENT" in the subject line and my appeal number, and they'd try to get them to the referee before Friday. Fingers crossed everything works out! Thanks everyone for your help.

•That's great news! Just a tip - at the beginning of the hearing, confirm with the referee that they received your documents. If they didn't, ask if you can briefly describe the content of the documents during your testimony. Good luck with your appeal!

I had an appeal last year and my employer didn't even show up for the call! Made it so much easier and I won automatically. Hope you get lucky like that!

•That's not entirely accurate. You don't automatically win if the employer doesn't participate, though it does typically make things easier. The referee still needs to determine if you meet eligibility requirements based on the evidence and testimony available.
