Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. 2 weeks isnt that bad honestly, mine took forever because i had worked in multiple states and they had to coordinate with other agencies. just keep filing weekly and be patient
did you have to do anything special for the multiple states thing or did NYS Department of Labor handle it automatically?
The whole NYS Department of Labor system is a joke! They make you jump through hoops for weeks while people are struggling to pay bills. I waited 6 weeks for my first payment and when I finally got someone on the phone they acted like it was MY fault for not submitting some random document I was never told about.
same here, the stress of waiting for money while bills pile up is horrible

The whole system is a NIGHTMARE now compared to back then!! Used to be you could actually talk to someone without waiting 3 hours on hold. Now they just hang up on you after an hour of waiting. Obama era was definitely better for unemployment claims.

If you're having trouble reaching NYS Department of Labor to set up tax withholding for future claims, I had success using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an actual agent. The whole system is rigged against workers. They deny legitimate claims hoping people won't appeal. Fight it but prepare for a battle. NYS Department of Labor will probably have your former employer provide their side of the story and they might lie to avoid paying higher unemployment taxes.
While the system can be frustrating, most appeals with proper documentation do succeed when the initial denial was incorrect. Stay focused on gathering evidence rather than assuming the worst outcome.

UGH the NYS Department of Labor eligibility rules are SO confusing and they make it impossible to get straight answers! I swear they do it on purpose to discourage people from applying. You shouldn't have to be a lawyer to figure out if you qualify for benefits you paid into!

Just apply anyway and let them determine eligibility. Worst case they say no, but at least you'll know for sure. The online application walks you through most of the questions.
