I was struggling to get through to NYS Department of Labor to ask similar questions about my benefit calculation. The phone lines are always busy and I kept getting disconnected. Someone on here mentioned using claimyr.com to help get through to an actual agent - they have some kind of system that calls you back when an agent is available. There's a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Might be worth checking out if you need to speak to someone directly about your specific situation.
If you're having trouble getting through to someone at NYS Department of Labor to check on your claim status, I had success using a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com). They help you get through to an actual agent instead of waiting on hold forever. There's a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Really helped when I needed to ask about adjudication delays.
Just remember the weekly amount is before taxes if you choose to have them withheld. You can elect 10% federal tax withholding when you file your weekly claims. Also don't forget you have to do job search activities and report any work/earnings when you certify each week.
The whole system is so confusing honestly. I wish they would just tell you upfront what you're gonna get instead of all these calculations and base periods and stuff.

Just remember that if you were fired for misconduct or quit without good cause, you might not qualify. Also don't lie about anything because they check everything and fraud penalties are no joke.

Good luck! I remember being just as confused when I first filed. Once you get the hang of the weekly claims it becomes routine. Just stay on top of it and don't miss any weeks.
