Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Ask your previous employer for help proving your identity. My HR department wrote a letter verifying my employment history and identity which sped things up with the unemployment office. Worth a shot.
Im in the same situation and its been 7 weeks of waiting. I finaly got through to someone using claimyr.com and they told me to keep certifying every week even though I cant get any payments yet. Bruh the max disability payment in NY is a JOKE. $170 a week??? What year is it, 1985? 😂 Good luck buying a loaf of bread with that. The system is broken af
it's literally criminal. no one can survive on that. meanwhile the disability insurance companies are making BANK 🤬
For real tho. NJ's max benefit is like $700+ a week but cross the river to NY and suddenly you're supposed to live on $170? Make it make sense.

This happened to my wife and OMG the disability application was a nightmare. We could never get through on the phone. The website kept giving errors. Finally used claimyr.com to get an actual person on the phone and got it resolved in one call. Don't waste weeks like we did!

I had almost the exact situation last fall. Once it changed from zeros to actual payment amounts, the money showed up in my account the next day (was supposed to take 3 days but came early). You're good to go!

•Freeze your credit with all 3 bureaus, use unique passwords for everything, check your credit report regularly, and consider identity theft protection services.
honestly even if you do all that, unemployment systems are so outdated that ur still vulnerable. but freezing ur credit is def step 1

I know this sounds weird, but have you tried making a Twitter post and tagging both ID.me and NY DOL? Sometimes the public shaming approach gets faster results than going through proper channels. Companies hate bad PR.

mine was stuck becuse they needed to verify my identity. they never told me this until I talked to like the 20th agent. check your online account and see if theres a message or document request you missed.
