Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. NY unemployment: 28 effective days remaining but can't certify after 9/12/2021 - claim still active until March 2022

I still have 28 effective days remaining on my account but there's no option to certify my claim anymore. My benefit year ending date shows as March 6, 2022 with a weekly benefit amount of $504.00. My maximum payable is $13,104.00. I've been working throughout most of 2020 and only started collecting unemployment in March 2021. When I log in to uihp2.labor.ny.gov, I can see my payment history and that I last certified for benefits for the week ending 09/12/2021, but now the certification option has disappeared completely. According to my official record of benefit payment history, my current claim shows: - Start/Effective Date: 03/01/2021 - Benefit Year Ending Date: 03/06/2022 - Weekly Benefit Amount: $504.00 - Maximum Amount Payable: $13,104.00 - Effective Days Remaining: 28 I checked the NY Department of Labor website around September 1, 2021 at 2:13 pm, and everything looked normal. It shows my latest transaction as of 09/12/2021, confirming that I last certified for benefits for the week ending that date. But when I tried to certify again, the option is gone. Do I need to file a new claim even though my benefit year hasn't ended yet and I still have 28 remaining days? The system is showing my claim is still active but won't let me certify! Anyone else experiencing this issue with the NY Department of Labor unemployment system?

I've been dealing with NY unemployment for 18 months now and the system is just broken. Sometimes the certification option disappears randomly and reappears a day later. Sometimes it means there's a hold. Sometimes it means you need to call. There's literally no way to know without talking to someone. When you finally get through, make sure they check ALL possible issues and don't just give you a quick answer.

Been trying to get through to NY unemployment since August - constant busy signals and hang ups

I filed my claim back in August and haven't seen any progress on my application for almost 3 months now. Every single time I try calling the ny unemployment office, I get a busy signal and then it just disconnects me. I've been trying different times - early morning, late afternoon, middle of the day - nothing works. The website just shows my claim as 'pending' with no other information. My savings are almost completely gone at this point and my landlord is getting impatient. Has anyone managed to actually speak to a real person there? This is beyond frustrating.

I had similar issue but when I finally got thru agent said they couldn't find my claim in the system at all!!! Had to reapply from scratch and then wait another 6 weeks. Check that your claim is actually in their system.

NY unemployment suddenly shows 100 effective days out of nowhere - what happened?

So I logged into my account yesterday to certify like I always do, and noticed something really strange. Last week my effective days remaining was at 0, but now it's suddenly showing 100 days! I've been on regular UI since April after my marketing position was eliminated. I haven't received any emails or notifications about this change. Is this a glitch or did they automatically extend my benefits? I'm worried about claiming this week in case there's some system error and they make me pay it all back later. Has anyone else experienced their effective days suddenly increasing without warning? I tried calling the hotline but kept getting disconnected after waiting 45+ minutes.

Why does everyone run to reddit first instead of just calling unemployment? 🤦‍♂️ Literally a 5 minute phone call would answer this definitively.

Fed up with contradictory NY unemployment advice - who actually knows what they're talking about?

Someone claims you need to upload specific documents, then someone else says those aren't necessary at all. My claim has been pending for almost 2 months now (filed in early March after my tech company downsized), and I'm seeing people who filed after me already receiving payments. When I check my account online, it just says "pending review" with no explanation. I've tried calling at least 25 times in the past three weeks and either get disconnected or spend hours on hold only to get cut off. It's maddening that there's no consistent information. I'm starting to think nobody actually understands how NY unemployment really works - not even the people giving advice. My savings are getting dangerously low, and I need to know what steps will ACTUALLY help me get this resolved. Is there anyone here who has legitimate, proven knowledge about how to navigate this system? Or are we all just sharing random experiences that may or may not apply to others?

After struggling for months, I finally found a strategy that works. Call right at 8:00am, press 1-9-2-1 when prompted (skips some menus), and if you get disconnected, call back immediately. Took me 38 tries in one day but finally got a human who fixed everything.

NY unemployment account error - "Issue with UI benefits" message and can't reach 1-888-209-8124 phone support to access $1,236 in pending payments

I was checking my claim status yesterday when suddenly got kicked out of my account. When I tried to log back in today, September 13, 2021 around 2:15 pm, I got this weird error message on the New York Department of Labor website. I took a screenshot of it. The exact error message says: "There is an issue with your UI benefits account. Please call the Telephone Claims Center at 1-888-209-8124 during regular business hours. Hearing impaired individuals, who have Telephone Device for the Deaf (TTY/TDD) equipment, may call a relay operator at 1-800-662-1220 and requesting the operator to call 1-888-783-1370. Service at this number will only be provided to callers with TDD equipment." This happened while I was on the applications.labor.ny.gov website, specifically on the "My Online Services" page before it redirected me to the "Error Information" page. The page has the New York State header with links to COVID-19 Vaccines, Services, News, Government, and Department of Labor at the top. I've been trying to call the 1-888-209-8124 number since 8am this morning but can't get through - just endless busy signals or the automated system hangs up on me after saying "high call volume." This is stressing me out since I haven't received my payment for the past 2 weeks and rent is coming up soon. I'm owed about $1,236 in benefits and I absolutely need this money to pay my bills. Has anybody else experienced this type of error message? Any suggestions on how to actually talk to a human being there? The website has a "Cancel and Return" button at the bottom, but clicking it just takes me back to the same error. I'm desperate at this point and have been trying different times of day to call but nothing seems to work. Is this happening because of something COVID-related? I noticed the website has COVID-19 information at the top. Should I try visiting a physical Department of Labor office instead of calling?

Something similar happened to me in July. They needed to verify my identity again because of "suspicious activity" even though I'd already verified it twice before. The whole system is just broken af.
