Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Try calling your local unemployment office directly. Sometimes they can override the KeyBank hold. the numbers for local offices aren't posted prominently but you can find them with a bit of googling. I got helped way faster this way.

I just checked Twitter and apparently there's a system outage today that's affecting both the website and phones. Might explain why nobody can get through. They never announce this stuff officially tho 🙄

Everyone keeps talking about 'quarters' but let me make it simple: 8 weeks of work from 2020 is NOT gonna qualify you for a new claim in 2023. Period. Those wages are way too old to count in your base period. The base period only includes the last 4-5 quarters before you file, so at most they go back about 15 months. Your 2020 work was like 3+ years ago now.
Man, I feel this. I worked only 10 weeks last year and didnt qualify either. The whole system is set up to make it as hard as possible to actually get benefits. And good luck getting thru to anyone on the phone who can actually explain anything clearly. The entire ny unemployment system needs a complete overhaul.
For real! How are people supposed to survive when the safety net has so many holes in it? 😡

My brother in law works in IT for a state agency (not NY) and he says most government websites are running on ancient systems they never properly updated. Not surprised they broke something with the captcha. Hope you get it sorted!

Try logging in at exactly midnight on Sunday when the system resets for the week. That's when the servers are least crowded and you might be able to get your certification through without errors. Worked for me!
