If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

Update: I just got the regular UI payment today but no sign of the $300 extra yet. Going to give it a few days based on what people are saying here before I start panicking. I'll keep you all posted!

That's very normal. The FPUC payments are often processed separately from regular UI payments, even though they cover the same weeks. If you received your regular UI payment, that's a good sign that the system recognizes you as eligible. The $300 supplements should follow shortly.

Second update: Just wanted to let everyone know that the $300 payments came through today! You were all right - they just process them separately from the regular UI payment. Thanks for all your help!

Quick question - what if I already filed an amended return to claim this credit? I filed one back in February because I thought we had to. Will I get double refunded or will they catch it?

0 coins

The IRS has systems in place to prevent double refunds. If you filed an amended return AND they process the automatic adjustment, their system should flag it. Most likely, they'll either: 1. Process your amended return and ignore the automatic adjustment 2. Process the automatic adjustment and reject the amended return If by some chance you do receive two refunds for the same adjustment, you should contact the IRS, as they will eventually catch it and you could face penalties for not returning the duplicate payment.

Can someone explain this to me like I'm 5 years old? I received NY unemployment for about 8 months last year. I already filed my taxes and got a refund back. Will I get more money now? How much? Do I need to do anything? I'm so confused by all of this tax stuff.

Here's the simple version: - If you received unemployment in 2024 and already filed your taxes, you paid tax on that money - The government decided after tax season started that the first $12,800 of unemployment shouldn't be taxed - Instead of making everyone file new tax forms, the IRS is automatically figuring out who paid too much tax - They're sending extra refunds to those people - You don't need to do anything but wait for the money to arrive - The amount depends on your tax rate, but roughly 10-24% of the unemployment amount that was exempted So if you received unemployment last year, you'll likely get some money back without doing anything.

Thank you so much!! That makes it so clear. I was worried I'd have to file something complicated or call someone. I'll just keep an eye on my bank account then!

Great news! Glad it worked out for you.

Congrats! Always nice to hear when the system eventually works like it should.

Did you apply for PTO or sick leave when you left your last job? Sometimes that can affect your unemployment eligibility too. Just another angle to consider.

0 coins

This is incorrect information. PTO payouts don't affect your work history qualification in New York - they might delay the start of benefits slightly, but they wouldn't cause someone to be denied for insufficient work history. Let's be careful not to confuse the situation further.

UPDATE: I finally got through to someone at unemployment today (used that Claimyr service someone mentioned - it actually worked!). The agent confirmed I should qualify under the extended base period due to COVID disruption. They're helping me file an appeal and said I need to submit documentation of my pre-pandemic employment. They're also sending me a specific form for COVID-related work disruptions. Thank you all for your help and advice! Will update when I hear back about the appeal.

0 coins

That's excellent news! Make sure you submit your appeal and all documentation before the deadline. The fact that you spoke with an agent who acknowledged the extended base period should help your case significantly. Best of luck, and please do let us know how it turns out.

So glad you got through to someone! Fingers crossed your appeal gets approved quickly!

Just to clarify something important: Your friend should NOT submit a new claim. That will only complicate things further. This is just a payment processing issue with their existing claim. Also, make sure they keep certifying weekly (just once!) even if they're not receiving payments yet. Once the issue is resolved, they'll receive all back payments they're eligible for.

Thanks for the warning! I'll make sure they don't file a new claim. They were actually considering that so you might have just saved them from making things worse.

UPDATE: My friend finally got through to NYSDOL this morning! You were all right - the double certification triggered a fraud review. They told her it would be resolved within 72 hours and all back payments would be processed. Thank you all for your help and advice!

Glad they got it sorted! How did they finally get through? Was on hold forever or did they use that service?

0 coins

They used that Claimyr service someone recommended above. Said it was way easier than trying to get through on their own after multiple failed attempts.
