Just saw a notice on the NYSDOL website that they're processing a large batch of tourism recovery payments this Friday. Maybe yours will be in that group!
Oh that would be amazing! Where on the website did you see that? I keep checking the main page but don't see any announcements.
UPDATE: I got my payment! It finally came through as direct deposit this morning. For anyone else waiting, definitely check the Special Program Payments section like people suggested here, and consider submitting that payment inquiry if it's been over 8 weeks. Thanks everyone for your help!
Just a quick update for everyone: NYSDOL just posted on their website that they resolved the certification system issues as of 3:30pm today. If you were having problems earlier, you should be able to complete your weekly certification now without any issues. They apologized for the inconvenience and confirmed that no one will be penalized for these technical difficulties.
I had something kinda like this happen back in January. My payment jumped up by around $200. Turned out they had recalculated my base period wages and I qualified for more than they initially thought. I got a letter about it a week later. Maybe check your mail?
Just to follow up - were you able to get an answer about this? If it was indeed a recalculation of your benefit amount, you should have received a Monetary Determination Notice (T402) showing the updated calculation. This would explain the increase and confirm whether it's permanent going forward.
Update for everyone following this thread: For situations like this with short-term out-of-state employment (under 6 weeks), you need to request a "Non-Qualifying Employment Exclusion" from NYSDOL. This requires: 1. Proof of the short duration (termination letter with dates) 2. Evidence you've returned to NY (lease, utility bill, etc.) 3. Form UI-BK-28 (Interstate Wage Exclusion Request) Once processed, they can reinstate your original NY claim as if the out-of-state employment never happened. But you must speak to a Combined Wage Claims specialist at NYSDOL, not a regular claims agent.
Thank you so much for this detailed information! I got through to someone today using that Claimyr service and they're processing my exclusion request now. The agent confirmed everything you said and told me I should see my claim reactivated within 10 business days. Such a relief!
My cousin works for unemployment and says they've been swamped with these exact cases since so many people are doing gig work and temp jobs in different states. The system wasn't designed for how people actually work these days.

•I don't think that's accurate. I reapplied just last week and my payments started immediately. It's more likely there's something specific with the OP's claim that requires review. Not everyone experiences delays.

UPDATE: I finally got through to someone at NYSDOL! Used that Claimyr service mentioned above and got connected in about 25 minutes after trying for over a week on my own with no luck. The agent told me my claim had a "verification hold" because I had worked for 3 different employers during my previous benefit year. They needed to manually review those wages even though I had reported everything correctly each week. The good news is she removed the hold right away, and my payments should process overnight! She also said I'll receive all the back payments for the weeks I certified. Such a relief! Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions.

•This is great news! It's always something specific like this that causes the holdup. Glad you got it resolved and will be receiving your backpay. For anyone else reading this in the future - this is why getting an actual person on the phone is so important with these issues.
