Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

Thanks for the suggestion! It sounds like he probably doesn't qualify yet anyway based on what others said about needing more work history.
The system is so confusing for young people trying to enter the workforce! My daughter had similar questions when she was in high school. Even if he doesn't qualify now, tell him to keep track of his earnings and work history because it might help him later if he faces unemployment after building up more work experience.

Low unemployment is just a political talking point honestly. Doesnt mean much when most of the jobs are part time retail with no benefits. The whole system is rigged against working people.

ugh trying to get through to someone at NYS Department of Labor about benefit calculations is impossible!! I've been calling for weeks about a similar issue and just get hung up on or told the wait time is over 2 hours. Has anyone found a way to actually reach a human there?

make sure you file your weekly claims every week even if your initial claim is still processing!! I made that mistake and it delayed everything

•Yes, you need to file weekly claims starting the week after you file your initial application. If you don't file weekly claims, you won't get paid for those weeks even if your claim gets approved later.
