If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

I had issues getting through to NYS Department of Labor when I had wage calculation questions. Tried calling for weeks but kept getting disconnected. Finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get connected to an actual agent who could review my earnings history. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Made the whole process way easier than trying to navigate the phone system myself.

Never heard of that service but honestly anything is better than sitting on hold for hours just to get hung up on!

Commission jobs are tricky for unemployment calculations because your income varies so much. I worked commission sales too and my benefit amount was based on my best quarter, not the terrible final months before I got laid off. The NYS Department of Labor system actually worked in my favor that way. Just make sure all your employers reported your wages correctly.

honestly the NYS Department of Labor phone system is so bad that if you run into any issues you'll spend hours trying to reach someone. I had a problem with my weekly claim filing and couldn't get through for days. Finally used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get connected to an actual agent. They have a video demo that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI. Might be worth bookmarking in case you need to talk to someone at NYS Department of Labor.

Never heard of that service before but the phone situation is definitely frustrating. Thanks for sharing!

Stick with unemployment if you can afford it! I made the mistake of taking a crappy retail job too quickly after getting laid off and it made interviewing for real positions almost impossible. Plus once you're working, you can't collect unemployment anymore even if the new job doesn't work out (well, you can but you'd have to reapply and qualify all over again).

The NYS Department of Labor follows federal guidelines on this. You must be able to work legally in the US to receive unemployment benefits. This includes citizens, permanent residents, and those with valid work visas or permits. If you're having trouble reaching someone at NYS Department of Labor to discuss your specific situation, I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an actual agent. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. An agent could give you definitive information about your eligibility.

This is really frustrating. People pay into the system but can't access benefits when they need them. I understand the legal requirements but it still feels wrong.

You might want to check with local worker advocacy groups too. Sometimes there are other programs or resources available even if regular unemployment isn't an option. They would know about any state-specific assistance programs.

Good idea, I'll look into that. Thanks for the suggestion.

yeah this whole system is screwed up if you ask me. when the economy tanks the people who need help most can't get it because there's no money coming in. typical government planning right there

Actually the unemployment insurance system is one of the better-designed government programs. It's self-funding through employer contributions and has federal backstops. It's specifically built to handle economic downturns.

This reminds me of when my brother was on unemployment back in 2009 during the recession. He was worried about the same thing but ended up getting all his benefits plus extended benefits that Congress approved. The system worked even during the worst economic crisis in decades.

I've been helping people with unemployment appeals for years and this denial doesn't make sense based on what you've described. When you file your appeal, emphasize these points: 1) You were laid off due to lack of work/economic reasons 2) You are able, available and actively seeking work 3) You're willing to accept suitable employment at prevailing wage rates. The minimum wage increase is irrelevant to your eligibility. If you're having trouble reaching NYS Department of Labor by phone to discuss this, I recently discovered this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helps people get through to unemployment agents. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Might be worth checking out if you need to speak with someone directly about your appeal.

Thank you so much for the detailed advice! I'll definitely check out that service if I can't get through on my own. The phone lines have been impossible lately.

Claimyr actually worked for me last month when I needed to update my job search requirements. Got connected within like 20 minutes instead of calling all day.

same thing happened to my brother last year, he appealed and won but it took forever. just keep trying to call them every day until someone explains what happened with your claim
