If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

You might want to try reaching out to NYS Department of Labor directly since these situations can be complex. I know calling them is usually a nightmare with busy signals and long waits, but I recently discovered this service called Claimyr that helps you get through to actual agents. Check out claimyr.com - they have a demo video at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. It was really helpful when I needed clarification on my own claim status.

How much does something like that cost? I'm already stressed about money with the unpaid leave.

It's worth checking out their site for details. For me it was worth it just to avoid the endless busy signals and get actual answers about my specific situation.

The whole system is ridiculous honestly. You pay into unemployment insurance your whole working life and then when you actually need it during a major life event they make you jump through hoops to prove you're 'worthy' of benefits. I hope you figure it out but prepare for a lot of bureaucratic runaround.

totally agree, the NYS Department of Labor makes everything so complicated when you're already dealing with enough stress

If you're having trouble reaching NYS Department of Labor agents to discuss your options, I used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get through to someone quickly. They have this video demo (https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI) that explains how it works. Really saved me time when I needed to clarify my job search requirements after being in a similar situation.

Thanks for the suggestion! The regular phone lines have been impossible to get through lately.

Wait I'm confused - are you saying they can make us take classes? I thought we just had to look for work and that was it. My cousin said something about them requiring computer classes but I figured that was just for certain people...

NYS Department of Labor can refer you to training programs but they can't force you to enroll in most cases. However, refusing reasonable retraining opportunities without good cause could potentially affect your benefits. It's usually presented as an option to help you find work faster.

Make sure you have all your employment info ready when you file - social security number, employer addresses, dates of employment, reason for separation. If you're missing anything or put wrong info it can delay your claim for weeks while they verify everything.

been there, construction layoffs are rough. at least unemployment gives you something while you look for the next job. just don't expect it to cover all your bills

If you're having trouble reaching someone at NYS Department of Labor to change your withholding settings, I had good luck using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an actual agent. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Saved me hours of trying to call on my own.

Never heard of that service before. Did they charge you anything or is it free to use?

There's a fee but it was worth it for me since I couldn't get through any other way. Much better than sitting on hold for hours or getting disconnected.

Just want to add that you'll get a 1099-G form from NYS Department of Labor in January showing your total benefits for the year. That's what you'll use when filing your taxes. Keep track of any taxes you have withheld too since that will reduce what you owe.

One thing to watch out for - if your claim goes into adjudication (which happens a lot), don't panic. It just means they need to review something about your claim. Could be verifying your employment history or the reason you left your job. Keep filing your weekly claims during this time or you'll lose those weeks.

good luck with this whole thing, unemployment system is so confusing even when you do everything right
