Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. The NYS Department of Labor definition also includes monetary eligibility requirements. You need to have earned a certain amount in wages during your base period, which is usually the first four of the last five completed calendar quarters before you file your claim. If you don't meet the wage requirements, you won't qualify even if you meet all the other criteria.
yeah i learned this the hard way when i tried to file after only working part time for a few months

They do charge but it was worth it for me since I couldn't get through any other way. Way less stress than hitting redial for hours.

THIS SYSTEM IS SO BACKWARDS!!! Why should someone who worked their whole life have to jump through hoops like this? The whole thing is designed to deny benefits to people who actually need them. Retirement should be a choice not forced by corporate greed!!!
I feel you on the frustration but the rules exist for a reason. Unemployment is supposed to be temporary assistance while you look for new work.
Wait I'm confused - if you retire don't you get social security? Can you get both unemployment and social security at the same time? That doesn't sound right to me.
You can collect both Social Security and unemployment simultaneously in New York. Social Security doesn't count as disqualifying income for UI purposes. However, you still need to meet the able and available for work requirements.
I wouldn't be eligible for full Social Security until 67, so that's not really an option right now anyway.

honestly the whole unemployment system is such a mess, took me forever to figure out all the requirements and then they kept asking for more documentation. good luck getting anyone on the phone at NYS Department of Labor too
