One more thing - if you do manage to get connected with a Washington ESD agent, ask specifically about any state-funded programs you might qualify for. Sometimes there are programs that aren't well publicized.
That's exactly what I did when I used Claimyr to get through - had all my questions ready and the agent was super helpful.
If anyone needs help reaching Washington ESD during the appeals process or just to check on claim status, I'll mention Claimyr one more time. It's especially useful when you're dealing with time-sensitive issues like appeals or adjudication questions where you really need to talk to someone instead of just checking online.
This has been a really informative thread! Saved me from having to ask the same questions. Good luck to everyone dealing with unemployment stuff right now.
One last tip - if you do get through to someone on the phone, ask them to email you written confirmation of what they tell you about the appeal process. That way you have it in writing if there are any questions later.
Just applied last month and got $558/week. The process was smoother than I expected once I got all my documents together. Make sure you have your social security card and ID ready when you apply.

One more thing - direct deposit usually takes a few days to set up initially, so even once your payment is approved it might take an extra 2-3 business days to hit your account if you haven't used ESD before. Paper checks take even longer.

•I did set up direct deposit when I filed my claim, so hopefully that will speed things up once payments start.

•Good thinking. Direct deposit is definitely the way to go.

Keep your chin up! I know the waiting is stressful but you'll get through it. The unemployment system in Washington works, it's just not fast. Focus on your job search and taking care of yourself while you wait for the benefits to kick in.

•This community is great for getting real info about the unemployment process. Way better than trying to decipher the official ESD website sometimes!
