One thing to watch for - if your claim goes into adjudication, the timeline gets much longer and less predictable. That's when you really need to try to reach someone at Washington ESD to understand what's happening.
That's why services like Claimyr have become so popular. They specialize in actually getting through to Washington ESD when you can't do it yourself.
Bottom line - 2-4 weeks is normal, 4-6 weeks if there are complications, anything longer than that and you should definitely be trying to get answers about what's causing the delay.
You've got this! The first certification is always the most nerve-wracking but it gets easier. Just remember the timing - every two weeks starting when ESD tells you to, and be honest with your answers.
One more tip - if you ever have issues with the online certification system, you can sometimes certify by phone. The automated phone system is usually more reliable than the website.
I tried using that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier and it actually worked! Got connected to a Washington ESD agent in about 10 minutes instead of spending hours trying to call.
The bottom line is that Washington ESD's definition of unemployment is broader than most people think. You don't have to be completely jobless to qualify for benefits.
If calling Washington ESD directly doesn't work out and you need to speak with someone urgently, I've heard good things about that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier. Sometimes having a real person to talk through the options makes all the difference.

One last thing - if you're confused about anything during the process, don't guess. Either look it up on the Washington ESD website or call them for clarification. Making assumptions can get you into trouble later.

•Good advice. I'd rather ask a stupid question than mess up my benefits.

•Exactly. And if you can't get through on the phone, that Claimyr thing people mentioned might be worth trying. Sometimes you really do need to talk to a human to get clarity.

The whole thing is pretty straightforward once you get into the routine. File initial claim, wait for approval, file weekly claims every week, do job search activities, keep records. Repeat until you find work. Most people adapt to it pretty quickly.
