If anyone is still having trouble getting benefit information from Washington ESD I just tried that Claimyr service mentioned earlier and it actually worked. Got connected to an agent who explained my whole claim status and benefit calculation. Worth checking out if you're stuck.
Don't forget about the waiting week. Even if you get approved, there's usually a one-week waiting period before benefits start. Plan your budget accordingly.
This thread has been super helpful! I was dreading trying to figure all this out on my own. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences.
One last tip - if you're eligible for the Trade Adjustment Assistance program, you might be able to get additional benefits beyond the regular unemployment amount. Worth looking into if you lost your job due to foreign trade.
One thing to keep in mind - if you're getting the maximum benefit amount, you'll exhaust your claim faster than someone getting a lower amount. The total benefit amount you're eligible for is still based on your earnings, not your weekly amount.
Thanks everyone for all this info! This has been way more helpful than anything I found on the Washington ESD website. I feel much more prepared to file my claim now.

Just wanted to add that the benefit amount also depends on when you file. If you wait too long after becoming unemployed, you might miss out on wages from recent quarters that could increase your benefit calculation. File as soon as you're eligible.

•That's good advice. I was laid off 3 weeks ago but just started the application process. Hopefully that's not too late.

•Three weeks should be fine. The important thing is getting your claim filed and starting the process. Washington ESD can backdate benefits to when you first became unemployed if eligible.

Another vote for that Claimyr service if you need to talk to someone at Washington ESD about your benefit calculation. Used it twice now when I had questions and both times got helpful agents who could access my account and explain things clearly. Worth checking out their demo video to see how it works.

•I'm always skeptical of third-party services but if it actually works it might be worth it given how impossible it is to reach Washington ESD directly.

•I was skeptical too but after wasting entire days trying to call on my own, I figured it was worth trying. Definitely made the process less stressful.
