The key thing is honesty. Report everything and let Washington ESD do the math. It's better to get a smaller benefit check than to risk an overpayment investigation.
One more thing - if you're working part-time for the same employer who laid you off, there might be different rules. Something about 'standby' status. Worth checking on that if it applies to your situation.
The most important thing is to file ASAP and keep filing weekly claims. Even if there are delays or appeals, you don't want to miss out on benefits you're entitled to because you waited too long to start the process.
For anyone reading this later - Claimyr is legit. I was skeptical at first but when I couldn't get through to Washington ESD for weeks about my claim questions, it was worth trying. Got me connected to an actual ESD rep who cleared up my confusion about filing timing.
Bottom line: don't overthink it. File your claim the Sunday after your last day of work. Be prepared for the waiting week. File your weekly claims on time every week. Follow the job search requirements. It's a process but manageable if you stay on top of it.
Don't forget about work search requirements! Even though you just filed, Washington ESD expects you to be actively looking for work from day one. If you haven't started job searching yet, that could be part of the issue.
Whatever the reason for denial, document everything and keep all correspondence from Washington ESD. If you do need to appeal, having a paper trail makes the process much smoother. Good luck!

Remember to keep filing even if you find temporary or part-time work. You might still be eligible for partial benefits depending on how much you earn.

•That's good to know. Wasn't sure if I could still collect if I found something part-time.

•Yeah Washington has a partial benefit formula. As long as you earn less than your weekly benefit amount plus $5, you can still get some unemployment.

Final word of advice - don't panic if your first payment takes a while. The system works, it's just slow sometimes. Focus on your job search and the money will come.
