If you end up needing to talk to Washington ESD about your eligibility and can't get through on the phone, that Claimyr service mentioned earlier really does work. I was skeptical at first but they got me connected within a day when I'd been trying to call for weeks.
Bottom line - with 8 months of steady work at $2800/month, you almost certainly meet the monetary requirements. Just make sure you file promptly if you do get laid off and be prepared for the weekly filing requirements once you're approved.
Bottom line: Weekly claims are weekly. Initial claims are rare. Most of the time you're just filing your weekly claim and that's it.
Great discussion here. Really cleared up the confusion between weekly claims and initial claims. The Washington ESD website could learn something from how clearly everyone explained it here.
I went through the same thing at a call center job. Got fired for 'not meeting metrics' but really they were just downsizing. Filed for unemployment and got approved after about a month. The adjudication process was stressful but worth it. Make sure you keep filing your weekly claims even while it's pending!
Check your spam folder for emails from Washington ESD. Sometimes important notifications end up there and you might miss requests for additional information.
At this point I'd definitely recommend trying one of those callback services like Claimyr. I was skeptical at first but after 4 weeks of getting nowhere with the regular phone system, I tried it and finally got answers. Sometimes you just need to talk to a real person to get things moving.

Remember that your benefit calculation is just an estimate until Washington ESD processes your actual claim. Sometimes there are wages or issues that don't show up until they do the full review.

•Good point. I'll treat this as a rough estimate for planning purposes.

•Yeah don't count on any specific amount until you get your official determination

The fact that we all have to reverse-engineer how unemployment benefits are calculated just shows how poorly designed the system is. It should be transparent and simple.

•Preach! The whole thing is unnecessarily complicated
