Ask the community...
Just remember you're still technically unemployed even if you're doing gig work. You have to remain able and available for full-time employment. If Washington ESD thinks you're too busy with DoorDash to take a regular job, that could be an issue.
Bottom line: yes you can do DoorDash while on unemployment but you MUST report all earnings and hours worked. Don't try to hide it or you'll end up with overpayment issues that are way worse than just having your benefits reduced.
Final thought - when you do talk to Washington ESD (whether through Claimyr or however you manage to get through), ask specifically about the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) programs. They have funding for training and support services that could help bridge the gap while you're looking for work.
Thanks everyone for all the helpful info! I feel way more prepared now to deal with whatever my benefit amount ends up being. This community is amazing.
Just filed my first weekly claim yesterday and it was pretty straightforward online. The hardest part was keeping track of all my job search activities for the week.
Bottom line - expect somewhere between $2400-4000 per month depending on your previous earnings, and be prepared for it to take some time to get your first payment. The system works but it's slow and bureaucratic.

The waiting is the worst part honestly. I remember being so anxious about my first payment too. But once it starts coming it's pretty reliable.

•Thanks for the encouragement. It's just stressful when you have bills due and no other income coming in.

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know my payment hit my account this morning! So it was exactly 3 business days after the 'Payment Issued' date showed up in my Washington ESD account. Thanks everyone for the help and reassurance.
