Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

Does the MWA selection affect which WorkSource office you have to work with for job search assistance?
It can influence which WorkSource location is your primary office, but you can generally use services at any WorkSource location in the state.

Also remember you have to be actively looking for work to keep getting benefits. Washington requires 3 job search contacts per week and you have to register with WorkSource.
Applying online counts but you can also do things like attending job fairs, networking events, or contacting employers directly. Keep detailed records of everything.
The job search log in your eServices account makes it easy to track your contacts. Make sure to log them every week when you file your weekly claim.
Last thing - if you quit your job you probably won't qualify for benefits unless you quit for good cause. Being laid off or fired for reasons other than misconduct usually qualifies you.
Things like unsafe working conditions, harassment, or significant changes to your job terms. But it's risky - you'd have to prove good cause to Washington ESD.
If you're considering quitting, try to get Washington ESD guidance first. Each situation is different and the good cause standards are pretty strict.

One more thing - make sure you understand whether your severance includes payment for unused PTO/vacation time. That's usually treated as wages and has different rules than true severance pay.
Mine is just severance, no vacation payout since I used all my vacation already. Good to know the distinction though.
The PTO payout rules are definitely different. I had to deal with both severance and vacation payout and it was confusing.
Bottom line: file your claim ASAP, be completely honest about the severance, and let Washington ESD tell you how it affects your benefits. Don't try to guess or delay filing - that just makes everything worse.
This seems like the consensus from everyone. I'm going to file my claim tomorrow and just be upfront about everything.

I'm in week 20 of my benefits and getting nervous about running out. Has anyone had luck finding work in construction lately? The market seems really slow right now.
Mostly residential framing. Been tough to find steady work, lots of guys competing for the same jobs.
Have you looked into union opportunities? Sometimes they have better leads on upcoming projects.

The bottom line is that Washington's unemployment system is designed to help people who have been working and paying into the system. If you've been working consistently for 8+ months, you almost certainly qualify for something.
