If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

Just want to add that if you get denied for any reason, you can appeal the decision. Don't just accept a denial if you think you really qualify. The appeal process exists for a reason.

0 coins

How long do you have to file an appeal?

0 coins

I think it's 30 days from the date of the denial notice. But check the notice when you get it because it will have the exact deadline.

0 coins

One last tip - if you do get approved, make sure you understand what happens if you turn down a job offer. Washington ESD can deny your benefits if you refuse suitable work without good cause.

0 coins

It depends on how long you've been unemployed and your previous experience. Generally in the first few weeks they expect you to look for similar work, but after a while you might need to consider other types of jobs too.

0 coins

The key factors are the wage compared to your previous job, your skills and experience, the distance from your home, and working conditions. Early in your claim you can be more selective.

Has anyone had experience with appealing an initial denial? I'm curious about that process in case things don't go smoothly the first time around.

0 coins

Yes, the appeal process exists for exactly these kinds of situations. You typically have 30 days from the denial notice to file an appeal, and you can present additional evidence or clarification about your work history.

0 coins

That's reassuring to know there's a path forward even if the initial decision isn't favorable.

Just remember that filing for unemployment isn't something to be embarrassed about - you paid into the system through your payroll taxes and you're entitled to use it when you need it. Your work history sounds like it should qualify you for benefits.

0 coins

Thank you for saying that. I was feeling a bit guilty about filing but you're right that I paid into the system.

0 coins

Exactly! That's what unemployment insurance is for - to provide a safety net when you lose your job through no fault of your own.

0 coins

One last tip - screenshot everything when you file. Save your confirmation numbers and keep records of all your communications with Washington ESD. You'll thank yourself later if any issues come up.

0 coins

Great advice! I learned that lesson the hard way with my first claim. Documentation is key with these government agencies.

0 coins

Absolutely. I keep a folder with all my unemployment stuff - claim numbers, correspondence, job search logs, everything. Saved me multiple times when they asked for proof of something.

Hope everything works out smoothly for you. The job market is tough right now but at least unemployment benefits can help bridge the gap while you search.

0 coins

Thanks for all the support and advice everyone. I'm going to file my claim right now and hopefully it goes through without any issues this time.

The weekly claims are pretty straightforward once you get used to them. You just answer questions about any work you did, money you earned, and your job search activities for that week.

0 coins

Do you file them online or do you have to call in?

0 coins

Online is much easier. The website works pretty well for weekly claims, it's just the phone system that's a nightmare when you need to talk to someone.

0 coins

One last tip - keep detailed records of everything. Save all your correspondence with Washington ESD, keep track of your job search activities, and document any work you do while collecting benefits. It'll save you headaches if any questions come up later.

0 coins

Thanks everyone, this has been really helpful! I feel much more prepared now if I do end up needing to file.

0 coins

Good luck! Hopefully the layoffs don't happen, but at least you know what to expect now.

0 coins

Update: I just filed my claim online! Took about 30 minutes once I got through. Wish I'd done this two weeks ago but at least it's done now. Thanks everyone for pushing me to act fast.

0 coins

Awesome! You'll probably get a determination letter in the mail within a week or two. Don't panic if your claim goes into adjudication - it's pretty normal.

0 coins

Glad you got it filed! If you run into any issues down the road, remember that Claimyr option for getting through to Washington ESD phone support.

For anyone else reading this later: the rule is you CAN file up to a year after becoming unemployed, but you SHOULD file within the first week. Don't be like OP and lose weeks of benefits by waiting.

0 coins

Exactly. The one year rule is misleading because it makes people think they have tons of time. In reality, every day you wait costs you money.

0 coins

I'm going to start telling my laid-off employees that they have 1 week to file, not 1 year. Much more accurate in terms of not losing benefits.
