i had this exact problem when i tried to appeal my overpayment notice last month! ended up faxing it from a UPS store and it went through fine. got my appeal hearing date in the mail about 10 days later
One more thing to try - the PA UC website works better during off-hours. Try submitting your appeal online between 7-8am or after 8pm when fewer people are using the system. That's when I've had the most success with uploads working properly.
I had a completely different issue with my biweekly claims but it turned out to be related to this same education verification thing! My regular job is bus driving but I also did some tutoring this year. The system was getting confused because I had two different types of educational employment and couldn't process it correctly. Had to have someone manually fix my claim type. The whole new verification system is a mess.
did anyone get a letter about this??? i swear they never tell us anything important! just random stuff about job search requirements but nothing about major changes that affect our claims!
PA UC did send notices to all claimants who filed with educational employers in 2023-2024, but many people reported not receiving them. The information was also published in the Claimant Newsletter (Spring 2025) and on the PA UC website under "System Updates". Unfortunately, these changes weren't communicated as effectively as they should have been.
Just to clarify for everyone in this thread - there are several common reasons claims get stuck in pending status for weeks: 1. Identity verification issues (IDme) 2. Employer response discrepancies 3. Missing work search documentation 4. Prior overpayment flags on your account 5. Wage investigation needed If you can get through to PA UC (either directly or via Claimyr), ask specifically which of these issues is affecting your claim. Different problems require different documentation to resolve. Also, while waiting for resolution, remember to keep filing your weekly claims even though you're not receiving payments yet. Once your claim is approved, you'll receive all eligible back weeks in a lump sum payment to your Money Network card or direct deposit.
This is really helpful - thank you! I have been continuing to file my weekly claims but wasn't sure if that was the right thing to do. I'm hoping it's not an identity verification issue since I completed the IDme process right after applying. When I do speak with someone (either through my rep or directly), I'll specifically ask which of these issues is holding things up.
Last winter I was waiting forever too and tried everything. Funny enough what ended up working was reaching out on the PA UC Facebook page. I sent them a direct message explaining my situation (without any personal info) and they got back to me asking for my claim number through private message. Within 48 hours someone from UC called me! Might be worth trying alongside the state rep approach.
This happened to me too but for a totally different reason. Turns out my internet security software was blocking the site. Check if you have any firewalls or antivirus that might be interfering. I had to add the UC site to my exceptions list and then it worked fine on my laptop. But while I'm here - anyone know how to change your bank account info in the system? I got a new checking account and need to update my direct deposit but can't find that option anywhere...
To update your bank account information, log in and go to "View and Maintain Account Information" and then select "Update Payment Information." It's under a different menu than you might expect. Just be aware that any change to direct deposit information will trigger a paper check for your next payment as a security measure, and the direct deposit to your new account won't start until the following payment.
UPDATE: The compatibility mode trick worked!!! Thank you all so much for your help. I was able to file my weekly claim without any issues. The site does look super outdated now but I don't even care as long as it works. For anyone else having this problem, definitely try the compatibility mode in your browser first!

For future reference, the PA UC site typically undergoes maintenance on the third Sunday of each month from 3am-7am, though emergency maintenance can happen at other times. They're supposed to post notices about planned outages, but they often don't. Always try to file your weekly claims as early in your window as possible to avoid these kinds of last-minute stresses.

Has anyone actually received their backpay in full recently? I've heard rumors they're deliberately slowing down payments because the state fund is running low again. Wouldn't surprise me one bit!

UPDATE: So I finally got through to someone at UC this morning! They told me my backpay should start processing tomorrow and will take about 5-7 business days to fully complete. Apparently there was nothing wrong with my claim - it's just the normal timeframe. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions!
