Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. I had such a hard time getting through to the NYS Department of Labor when I needed to understand my claim status last year. ugh the whole form is confusing, took me like 3 tries to get it right and i still had to call them to fix stuff. make sure you double check everything before submitting because going back to change things is a nightmare

The wage information section trips people up a lot. You'll need to provide details about all employers from the last 18 months, including dates of employment and reason for separation from each job. If you worked multiple jobs or had gaps in employment, make sure to account for everything accurately.
What if I can't remember exact start dates from a year ago? I have my W2 but it doesn't show when I started.
Do your best to estimate - the NYS Department of Labor will verify with your employers anyway. Check old paystubs, tax documents, or even your social media if you posted about starting a new job. Close approximation is better than leaving it blank.

The system is just broken. I've been dealing with NYS Department of Labor for months on different issues and they're completely overwhelmed. Five weeks is unfortunately becoming the new normal for approval times.

The whole system is rigged anyway! These corporations get tax breaks to automate then we have to pay for unemployment benefits for the workers they displaced. NYS Department of Labor should make companies pay more into the unemployment fund when they automate jobs. It's not fair that taxpayers foot the bill.
That's actually an interesting point about funding. I never thought about who pays when automation causes layoffs.

just went through this last month - the online appeal form is under the determinations section not appeals section which is confusing as hell. typical NYS Department of Labor making things harder than they need to be

Good luck with your appeal! The system is definitely not user-friendly but once you submit it online you should get a confirmation email with your appeal number.
