Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. I'm dealing with the opposite problem - I think I was supposed to be on standby status but somehow got put on regular UI and now they're making me do job searches even though my employer said I'll be called back in March. Has anyone had success getting NYS Department of Labor to switch your claim type after it's already been filed?
You can request a status change but you'll need documentation from your employer confirming the expected return date. Call the NYS Department of Labor phone line, though getting through can be really difficult with their high call volume.

If you're truly on standby status with a confirmed return date from your employer, then no job search is required. But if you were filing regular UI claims, then yes you do need to search for work and keep logs.

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS RIGGED ANYWAY!!! They make it impossible to reach anyone and then act surprised when people can't navigate their bureaucratic maze. These economic cycles just give them more excuses to deny claims and make people jump through hoops.
