If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

I've been through this same situation! When I first started collecting unemployment in NY, I was so anxious about when the payments would actually show up. From my experience over the past 6 months, if you certify on Sunday, the money typically hits your account Tuesday or Wednesday. The key thing is to make sure you certify as early as possible - I always do mine Sunday evening right when it becomes available. Also, double-check that your direct deposit info is 100% correct in your my.ny.gov account because even a small typo can cause major delays. One time my payment was delayed by a week because I had an old routing number in there. Hope this helps ease your worry - the system does work once you get into the rhythm of it!

This is so reassuring to hear! I'm in the exact same boat as Jessica - just got approved after my restaurant closed down and I'm stressed about timing with bills coming up. Your tip about certifying Sunday evening is really helpful. Did you ever have any issues with the my.ny.gov website being slow or crashing when you tried to certify? I've heard some people complain about technical problems but wasn't sure how common that actually is.

@Keisha Thompson @Jessica Nolan I ve had'the my.ny.gov site crash on me a few times, especially on Sunday evenings when everyone is trying to certify at once. My advice is to try certifying earlier in the day on Sunday or even late Saturday night if the system lets you. If the site does crash while you re in'the middle of certifying, don t panic'- your progress usually saves and you can pick up where you left off. Just make sure to complete it before the deadline. I also learned to screenshot my confirmation page just in case there are any disputes later about whether I certified on time.

I just went through this exact same process a few weeks ago! The waiting period after your first certification is definitely nerve-wracking, especially when you have bills due. In my experience, NYS unemployment payments typically arrive within 2-3 business days after certifying. Since you filed on Sunday, you should see the money by Tuesday or Wednesday. One thing that helped me was setting up text alerts through my bank so I'd get notified immediately when the direct deposit hit. Also, make sure you have the my.ny.gov app downloaded - it makes it much easier to check your payment status and certify each week. The good news is once you get into the routine, the timing becomes pretty predictable. Hang in there!

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really helpful to know about the 2-3 business day timeline. I'm definitely going to set up those bank alerts - that's a great tip I hadn't thought of. I've been refreshing my account way too much since Sunday! Quick question - when you mention the my.ny.gov app, is that different from just using the website on your phone? I've been using the mobile browser version but if there's an actual app that works better, I'd love to download it.

I'm currently in a very similar situation - was on short-term disability for 6 weeks due to a work-related injury, got cleared by my doctor to return to work last Monday, but my supervisor informed me that my role was eliminated as part of company-wide layoffs that happened while I was out. I filed for unemployment with NYS Department of Labor on Wednesday and wanted to share what I learned from the process. The online application was pretty straightforward, and they did ask specifically about my ability to work (which I confirmed with my medical clearance) and the circumstances of my job separation. I made sure to explain that my position was eliminated while I was on approved medical leave, not due to any performance issues. The rep I spoke with said this type of situation is actually quite common and shouldn't cause any problems with eligibility as long as I'm medically cleared and actively seeking work. Still waiting to hear back on approval, but feeling optimistic based on everyone's experiences here!

Thanks for sharing your experience Jackson! It's really helpful to hear from someone who just went through the filing process. I'm curious - when you explained that your position was eliminated while on medical leave, did you provide any specific documentation from your employer about the layoffs, or was your explanation sufficient? I'm in almost the exact same boat and want to make sure I include everything needed when I file. Also, did they give you any timeline for when you might hear back about approval?

I went through this exact situation about 8 months ago! Was on short-term disability for 3 months after a car accident, got medical clearance to return to work, but my company had eliminated my position during "cost-cutting measures" while I was out. Filed for unemployment immediately after getting my clearance letter and was approved within about 2 weeks. The key things that helped me were: 1) Having my medical clearance documentation ready, 2) Being clear that I was able and available for work, and 3) explaining that my job loss was due to company restructuring, not anything I did. NYS Department of Labor was actually very understanding about the situation. Don't stress too much - this type of scenario is more common than you'd think, and as long as you're medically cleared and ready to work, you should be fine. Make sure to file your weekly certifications on time even while waiting for approval!

This is exactly what I needed to hear! I'm dealing with the same situation right now - just got cleared after 2 months on disability for a knee surgery, only to find out my position was "restructured away" while I was out. Your timeline of 2 weeks for approval is really encouraging. Did you have any issues with the weekly certifications while waiting for the initial approval? I'm worried about making mistakes on those since I've never filed for unemployment before. Also, when you mentioned being "clear that you were able and available for work" - did you just state that in the application or did you need to provide additional proof beyond the medical clearance letter?

The whole system is so confusing! Why can't they just have clear guidelines about separation agreements on their website? Every situation seems different and you never know what's going to trip you up.

I went through this exact situation about 8 months ago with my company in NYC. The key thing that helped me was getting a letter from HR confirming that my position was being eliminated due to restructuring, even though I signed a separation agreement. When I filed my unemployment claim, I uploaded that letter along with the separation agreement. NYS Department of Labor approved my benefits without any issues. The severance didn't delay my benefits either since it was a lump sum payment, not ongoing wages. Just make sure you're honest about everything when you file - they can see if you received severance pay anyway, so transparency is your best bet.

That's really helpful to know! I'm also in NYC so this gives me hope. Did you have to wait long for approval or was it pretty straightforward once you submitted everything? I'm worried about any delays since I need to start receiving benefits as soon as possible after my last day.

@Ethan Wilson That s'exactly what I needed to hear! Getting a letter from HR is a great idea. How long did the whole process take from filing to receiving your first payment? I m'trying to plan my finances since the severance will help but I don t'want any gaps in income if possible.

Just remember you'll still need to file your weekly claims and do the job search requirements even once you start getting benefits. NYS Department of Labor is pretty strict about that stuff now.

Based on your $52k salary, you should be in good shape for benefits. Just make sure you keep good records of your employment dates and wages - NYS Department of Labor will verify everything during the application process. Also heads up that there's usually a one-week waiting period before you start receiving payments, so factor that into your planning if you do end up needing to file.

0 coins

That's really helpful about the one-week waiting period! I hadn't thought about that timing issue. Do you know if the waiting period starts from when you first file your claim or when you're actually approved? I want to make sure I have enough savings to cover that gap if I end up needing to file.

I just went through this exact same thing two weeks ago! Accidentally hit the wrong button and reported like $700 in earnings when I made $0. I was freaking out just like you are now. Here's what actually worked for me after reading all the advice online: Used that claimyr service everyone's mentioning - yeah it's $20 but honestly worth every penny when you're about to lose a whole week's benefits. Got connected in about 30 minutes vs the 2 days I wasted trying to call myself. When I got through, I said exactly what @QuantumQuasar suggested: "I need to correct a certification error for week ending [date]. I accidentally reported earnings over $504 when I actually earned $0." The agent pulled up my file, saw it was obviously a mistake (probably because my work history showed I wasn't even employed), and fixed it right there on the call. Got my confirmation number, and the payment showed up 4 days later. Total relief! The key is definitely acting fast and being super clear about what you need. Don't overthink it - they deal with this mistake constantly and most agents know exactly how to fix it. You got this! 💪

@Zoe Christodoulou this is exactly what I needed to hear! Thank you for sharing your recent experience with the same issue. It s'such a relief to know that someone just went through this and got it resolved quickly. I was hesitant about paying for that claimyr service but honestly when you put it in perspective - $20 vs losing hundreds in benefits - it s'a no-brainer. Really appreciate you confirming that the agents can see it s'obviously a mistake when they look at your work history. That makes me feel so much better about calling. Going to try first thing tomorrow morning and if I can t'get through, I ll'definitely use that service. Thanks for the encouragement! 🙏

Had this exact same issue happen to me back in October! I know how stressful it is when you see that denial message, but don't panic - it's totally fixable. Here's what I learned from my experience: - Call as early as possible (8 AM sharp when they open) - Have your claim number and the exact week you need corrected ready - Be direct: "I need to correct a certification error where I accidentally reported earnings I didn't actually make" - If the first agent seems unsure, ask for a supervisor or the corrections department The whole thing took me about a week to resolve once I finally got through. The agent was actually really understanding - apparently they see this mistake all the time, especially with how confusing the online form can be. One thing that helped me was writing down exactly what I was going to say before calling, so I didn't get nervous and ramble. They just need the facts: which week, what you reported vs what you actually earned, and that it was an honest mistake. You'll get your money! Just stay persistent with the calling and don't give up after a few busy signals. The system sucks but the people on the other end usually want to help once you reach them.
