Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. For future reference, your actual NYS Department of Labor claim status will be very specific - things like adjudication in progress, payment issued, or disqualified. That makes sense. I was getting confused by all the different sections on the website. My actual claim status just says approved so I think I'm good.

I think what's MOST associated with unemployment is the stress and anxiety of dealing with the whole system! Between adjudication delays, confusing letters, and trying to reach someone on the phone, it's exhausting. But yeah, practically speaking, you need both the weekly claims and job search.

i got like $380 a week when i was on unemployment last year, was making similar to you. took about 2 weeks to get my first payment but then it was pretty regular after that
Make sure you have all your employment history ready when you file - they'll ask for details about your last 18 months of work. If you worked multiple jobs or had gaps, have explanations ready. The more complete info you give upfront, the less likely your claim will get flagged for adjudication review.
