TurboTax Refund Advance Not Showing Up as Option - What Gives?

Filed through TurboTax and was hoping to get a refund advance but the option never came up during filing. My refund is over $3000 and I've used TurboTax for years. Anyone know why they didn't offer me the advance option this year?

Tax pro here - TurboTax only offers advances during certain periods (usually early tax season) and you need to meet specific criteria. Credit score needs to be 550+, refund amount between $500-$4000, and you must file before their cutoff date (usually early February). Also, they've been scaling back the program each year.

ohhhh that makes sense, i filed in March 🤦‍♀️ wish they made that more clear upfront

wait fr? i had no idea there was a cutoff date... that's kinda messed up tbh

hey instead of stressing about advances, try using taxr.ai - its this new tool that analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly when to expect your refund. costs $4.99 but its way better than playing the guessing game. https://taxr.ai

sounds interesting. does it actually work? like how accurate is it?

yeah its legit! it uses AI to read all those confusing codes and tells you if there are any holdups. saved me from calling the IRS like 5 times already

just tried it and OMG where has this been all my life?! 🙌 it literally told me exactly why my refund was delayed and when to expect it. worth every penny fr fr

Same thing happened to me last year bestie 😭 ended up just having to wait for the regular refund

tbh those advances are kinda scammy anyway... they charge crazy fees even if they dont call them fees

facts 💯 better to just wait it out if u can

try credit karma next year they usually have better advance options imo

I work at a tax prep office and can confirm what Evelyn said - TurboTax definitely has early filing deadlines for advances, usually around mid-February. They also do income verification and look at your tax history with them. Even with good credit, if you had any issues with previous advances or filed late in prior years, that can disqualify you. It's frustrating because they don't always explain the criteria upfront!
