If you have a local Taxpayer Advocate Service office, try contacting them. They sometimes can help move things along if your refund has been stuck for an extended period. Their number is 877-777-4778.
Taxpayer advocate is backed up for months too. They won't even take your case unless you can prove financial hardship now.
Ah damn, didn't know it had gotten that bad. The whole system is falling apart.
Double check that your bank account info was entered correctly. Friend of mine had his refund sent back to the IRS because he transposed two digits in his account number.
This is the worst tax season ever. I've been waiting 16 weeks for my refund, no notices, no explanation, nothing. If the IRS took money FROM me instead of owing me, they'd charge penalties and interest. But when they owe us? "Just wait" š¤¬
So frustrating! After wasting hours trying to decipher my transcript when I had these same codes, I just uploaded it to taxr.ai and it explained everything in seconds. Apparently I had a hold for income verification that I needed to address. It even gave me a checklist of steps to take. Such a timesaver when dealing with the IRS! https://taxr.ai
It's 100% legit. I was skeptical too but I was desperate to understand why my refund was stuck. It breaks down all those confusing codes and tells you exactly what's happening with your return and what to do next.
I'm a tax preparer and I've seen this question a lot. Here's what's happening: The IRS sends an ACH transaction with a settlement date (the official DD date on your transcript). Traditional banks typically hold funds until that settlement date even if they receive the information earlier. CashApp, Chime, and some online banks choose to front you the money as soon as they see the pending ACH, which can be 1-5 days before the settlement date. It's not magic - they're just giving you access to the funds before they're technically required to. The actual timing depends on when the IRS initiates the ACH, which day of the week it is, and your bank's policies.
Does the advance direct deposit feature cost extra with these apps?
filed on 03/29, accepted 03/30, DDD of 04/12 on my transcript, and it hit my CashApp on 04/10 - so 2 days early.
Had the same issue ā after identity verification my WMR changed but transcript stayed empty. Called the IRS tax advocate hotline and they told me that the different IRS systems don't always update at the same time. Transcript took about 2 weeks longer to update than WMR. Super annoying but at least it's moving forward for you now.
this is the worst tax season ive ever seen for delays. im a tax preparer and about 70% of my clients had to verify identity this year. most of them had the same experience as you - WMR updates quick but transcripts take 1-3 weeks more to update. as long as verification is complete youre good, just gotta wait for the slow irs computers to catch up to each other

SAME BOAT. filed Feb 5, claimed child care credit for the first time, and still waiting. the IRS phone support is a joke - waited 2 hours just to be told "its processing, be patient" š” then i used claimyr.com to get a callback from a different department and they told me it was under review because it was my first time claiming it, but that it should be released within 2 weeks. definitely worth the money to actually get a real answer instead of the runaround.

ā¢Did your refund actually come within the 2 weeks they promised?

ā¢Yep! Got it 9 days after that call. Finally having actual information instead of just "it's processing" made such a difference for my stress levels.

welcome to the world of tax credits! the IRS basically assumes everyone is committing fraud now, so they review EVERYTHING. I file with 4 dependents and child care credit every year and it's always a 2-3 month wait. The system is broken. š¤¦āāļø
