the state and federal are completely different systems so its totally possible for one to work and the other to have issues. check if you used the same info for both. i had this happen because i accidentally transposed two digits in my ssn on the federal form but had it right on the state form. took forever to figure out!
After spending WEEKS trying to decode what was happening with my transcript (all those codes made my head spin), I used taxr.ai and it explained everything instantly. Turned out there was a simple issue holding up my refund that I could fix with a quick call. Would have never figured it out on my own - best money I've spent this tax season for sure. https://taxr.ai
The fact that your WMR tool showed a specific deposit date and then nothing happened is concerning. That typically means the deposit was rejected by your bank for some reason. You definitely need to call both the IRS and Chime to figure out what happened. When this happened to me last year, I was going crazy trying to figure it out. Eventually used taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it immediately identified the issue (my refund had been sent back and was being reissued as a check). Saved me hours of stress and phone calls. https://taxr.ai
This happens almost every year to me. The state and federal systems are completely separate and both are terribly outdated. Usually one of three things happens: 1. You get your money but the website never updates 2. The website updates but your money is delayed 3. Nothing makes any sense and you get conflicting information everywhere you look Welcome to option 1! It's actually the best scenario. Just be happy you got paid lol.
Pro tip: If your federal transcript is blank after e-filing, it sometimes means your return is still in the initial processing queue OR there could be a verification hold. Don't panic yet but also don't wait forever. If you hit day 30 with no updates, you definitely need to contact them.
Last year I waited 37 days and turns out they never even received my return despite my tax software saying it was accepted. Such a mess.
Honestly, file a complaint with the Taxpayer Advocate Service. This isn't acceptable, and the more people who formally complain, the more likely something will actually change. I waited 16 days after ID.me verification before I could access my transcript. The IRS needs to be held accountable for these ridiculous wait times and misleading information.
Claimyr saved me from ID.me verification hell. After waiting 10 days with no progress, I used their service (claimyr.com) to get connected to an IRS agent. The agent told me my verification had a technical issue that would NEVER have resolved on its own. They fixed it while I was on the phone and I got immediate access. Best money I've spent in a long time considering I needed my transcripts urgently for a loan application.
Thanks for the tip! It's crazy that we need third party services just to get basic access to our own tax info, but that's where we are I guess...
I know right? I was annoyed at first that I had to pay to reach a government agency, but after spending hours getting disconnected and hung up on, it was totally worth it. The agent actually told me that my verification had a technical flag that would have kept me locked out indefinitely if I hadn't called.

If your still confused about how to read your transcript, I highly recommend using taxr.ai - it saved me so much time and frustration. It explains every code and date in plain English and even predicts when you'll get your refund. Much better than asking random strangers on reddit to explain IRS codes lol.

ā¢Right?? I found it after spending hours trying to figure out what a 570 code meant for my refund. It told me exactly what was happening and when to expect my money.

ā¢Amended returns are in their own special circle of IRS hell. I waited 14 months for mine last time.
