I'm so glad to see people sharing what actually works! I've been lurking here for weeks reading everyone's experiences while my own claim sits in adjudication hell. @c43714aed98c your update gives me hope - I'm going to try the "payment issues" route first thing tomorrow morning at 7:30am. @fa0691986852 thank you for that detailed script, I'm writing it down word for word. And @f52366f8c41d the advice about contacting state reps is something I hadn't considered. It's crazy that we have to become experts in gaming the system just to get basic help, but I really appreciate everyone sharing their hard-won knowledge. This community has been a lifesaver during this nightmare process!
Welcome to the community @6f7c325f123a! I totally understand the frustration - I've been in adjudication for 9 weeks myself and this thread has been incredibly helpful. It really is ridiculous that we have to become amateur detectives just to navigate what should be a straightforward process. The fact that everyone here is sharing their successful strategies gives me hope that there are ways through this maze. @c43714aed98c I'm also going to try the "payment issues" option tomorrow morning - fingers crossed it works for both of us! Keep us posted on how your call goes, and don't give up. We're all rooting for each other here.
This is exactly what I needed to see right now! I'm on week 6 of adjudication and was starting to lose hope. @c43714aed98c congratulations on getting through - the "payment issues" tip is genius and I'm definitely trying that tomorrow at 7:30am sharp. @fa0691986852 that script about escalating hardship is gold, thank you for sharing the specific language that works. @f52366f8c41d your legal perspective really helps explain why the system works the way it does, even if it's frustrating. I've been calling randomly throughout the day but clearly timing and word choice matter way more than I realized. Going to contact my state senator's office too based on @dd3d070ae4f8's success story. It's sad that we have to jump through all these hoops, but I'm grateful this community exists to share what actually works. Will report back after I try these strategies!
@6b10fb4c68d3 You're definitely in the right place for getting real advice that actually works! I'm new here too but have been reading through all these success stories and taking notes. The timing strategy seems to be crucial - seems like 7:30am is the magic hour when you can actually get through to someone who can help. @c43714aed98c's "payment issues" tip is brilliant and I'm adding that to my call plan too. @fa0691986852 thank you for breaking down exactly what to say - having that script takes away the guesswork when you're already stressed. It's amazing how much better prepared I feel just from reading everyone's experiences here. Definitely going to try the state representative route as well since multiple people have had success with that approach. This community is proof that we don't have to navigate this broken system alone!
Oof, changing anything with unemployment is such a pain. I feel for you, OP. Just remember to breathe and try not to lose your cool when dealing with them. It's frustrating but getting angry usually just makes things worse. You got this! 💪
Hey Evelyn! I went through this exact same thing about 6 months ago. Here's what worked for me: I called first thing in the morning (like 8 AM sharp) when they opened - way shorter wait times. Had all my paperwork ready including my termination letter and the reason I needed to change the date. The rep was actually super helpful once I got through. One thing I wish I'd known - if your original claim date was too early and you need to move it later, that's usually easier than trying to move it earlier (which can get tricky with overpayment issues). Also, definitely ask them to email you a confirmation of the change. Saved my butt when there was confusion later. The whole process took about 10 days for me to see the change reflected in my account. Just stay patient and persistent. You've got this! 🤞
Thanks for sharing your experience! That's really reassuring to hear. I'm definitely planning to call right when they open - seems like that's the key. Quick question though - when you say moving the date later is easier than earlier, what exactly do you mean by overpayment issues? I think I might need to move mine earlier and now I'm a bit worried 😬
Oh, that's a good question! So basically if you move your claim date earlier (like you were supposed to start getting benefits sooner than you originally filed), the system might think you're owed back pay for those weeks. But if you weren't actually eligible during that earlier period or if there are other issues, it can create complications. Moving it later is usually just adjusting when your benefits start, which is more straightforward. That said, don't stress too much - just be really clear about your situation when you call and have documentation ready to explain why the date needs to change. The reps can usually sort it out, it might just take a bit more back and forth. Good luck! 🍀
One more important thing - if you're on Extended Benefits or any special program (not regular Reemployment Assistance), double-check the specific requirements for your program. Some have different work search rules. You can see which program you're on in the "Program Type" field when you log into CONNECT.
Just wanted to add that I've been on unemployment for 6 months now and can confirm the 5 work search requirement is definitely back in full effect. What really helped me was creating a simple spreadsheet to track everything - date, company name, position applied for, method of contact, and any follow-up. I also take screenshots of online applications showing the confirmation page. DEO audited me last month and having everything organized made it super easy to provide the documentation they requested. Don't stress too much about it, just stay consistent with your 5 searches each week and keep good records!
I heard they might be passing a new relief bill next month but who knows if it'll happen. Politicians keep arguing while we're all struggling to pay bills. This whole situation is so stressful.
I'm in a similar situation and just wanted to share what I learned after weeks of confusion. The federal supplements (both the $600 FPUC and later $300 extension) have ended, so we're only getting the state maximum of $375/week now. What helped me was creating a strict budget and immediately applying for other assistance programs. I got approved for SNAP benefits which covers about $200/month in groceries, and I'm waiting to hear back on rental assistance through my county. Also, if you haven't already, make sure you're documenting every single job application for your work search requirements - I keep a spreadsheet with company names, positions, dates, and contact info. The uncertainty about new federal programs is frustrating, but focusing on what assistance is actually available right now has helped me manage until hopefully something new gets passed.

I had a similar employment separation issue back in February and it took about 19 days total to resolve. Once it moved to adjudication, I got paid within 3 days. Hang in there!

•Thanks for sharing your experience. That gives me hope! Did you have to do anything to move it along or did it just resolve on its own?

•Mine just resolved on its own after my employer responded. But I have friends who had to call in to get things moving after waiting too long.

I went through this exact same situation back in June! My claim was stuck on pending for employment separation for almost 3 weeks. What really helped me was documenting everything - I took screenshots of my CONNECT account showing the pending issue, saved all my correspondence, and kept a log of when I claimed my weeks. When I finally got through to speak with someone (took multiple attempts calling right at 7:30am), the agent was able to see that my former employer had actually responded but there was a glitch in the system that wasn't updating my claim status. She manually pushed it through and I got paid within 2 days after that call. My advice: keep claiming your weeks religiously, take screenshots of everything for your records, and if it hits the 3-week mark with no movement, definitely try calling or use one of those callback services. The waiting is nerve-wracking but most employment separation issues do get resolved eventually!
