This is amazing news! Congratulations on finally getting approved - 4 business days is incredible compared to the months some people are waiting. I'm definitely going to try the CareerSource route. Just to clarify for anyone else reading this - did you go to the Tampa CareerSource center specifically or would any location work? Also, when you called your state rep Jennifer Canady's office, did you have to provide any specific documentation beyond your claim number and address? I've been stuck in adjudication for 7 weeks now and I'm willing to try both approaches. Thanks for sharing your success story - it gives the rest of us hope!
Hey! I'm new to this community but have been lurking and reading everyone's experiences. I'm in week 3 of adjudication hell myself and honestly this thread has been the most helpful thing I've found online about actually getting somewhere with DEO. @b4d0d26267bb congratulations on getting approved!! That's such great news. For the CareerSource question - I think any location should work since they all have access to the same DEO systems, but maybe call ahead to make sure they can help with reemployment assistance issues? Some locations might focus more on job search services. Really appreciate you sharing the step-by-step process, definitely going to try this approach this week!
This is exactly what I needed to see! I've been stuck in adjudication for 6 weeks and was starting to lose hope. Reading through this whole thread has given me a clear action plan. I'm going to try the CareerSource approach first thing Monday morning, and if that doesn't work, I'll contact my state representative too. The fact that you got approved in just 4 business days after months of waiting is incredible - it really shows these alternative routes can work when the regular phone system fails us. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and following up with the results. Bookmarking this thread for sure!
I'm so glad this thread is helpful! I was in the same boat just a week ago feeling completely hopeless. One thing I'd add - when you go to CareerSource, try to go early in the day if possible. I went around 10am and there wasn't much of a wait, but I heard from the staff that afternoons can get pretty busy. Also, bring all your documentation with you (claim number, ID, any correspondence from DEO) even though they might not need it all. Better to have it and not need it than the other way around. Really hoping this works for you too! Keep us posted on how it goes.
This is exactly why I tell everyone - don't give up! I went through something similar last year where my claim was stuck for 8 weeks. Turned out to be an issue with my previous employer not responding to DEO's inquiry about my separation. The crazy part is once I finally got through to someone, they said the employer deadline had passed weeks ago and they could have released my payments immediately if I had just called sooner. The system doesn't automatically move these cases forward - you really do need human intervention. For anyone else reading this who's stuck in the same boat, Omar's success story shows it's worth trying every avenue: Claimyr, state reps, calling at opening time, etc. Don't assume waiting will fix it because it usually won't.
This whole thread has been so helpful! I'm new here but dealing with the same nightmare - 7 weeks of holds and feeling completely lost. Reading about Omar's success and everyone's different strategies gives me hope that there's actually a way out of this mess. It's crazy that we have to jump through all these hoops for what should be a straightforward process, but at least now I know I'm not alone and there are actual solutions that work. Going to try the Claimyr service and contacting my state rep tomorrow. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences!
Just wanted to add another option that worked for me - if you're really struggling to get through by phone, try visiting your local CareerSource office in person. I know it's not convenient, but when I was stuck with weeks on hold, the staff there were able to call DEO directly while I waited and got me connected to someone who could actually help. They have dedicated lines that aren't available to the general public. It took about 2 hours of waiting at the office, but it was better than weeks of failed phone attempts. Some locations also have DEO liaisons who visit certain days of the week. Might be worth calling ahead to ask about their schedule. The system is definitely broken, but there are ways around it if you're persistent enough!
This is such a great tip! I had no idea CareerSource offices could help with DEO issues. That's definitely something I'll keep in mind if I run into problems in the future. It's sad that we have to find all these workarounds, but I'm grateful for communities like this where people share what actually works. The fact that they have dedicated lines makes so much sense - no wonder the regular number is always jammed. Thanks for adding another option to the toolkit!
Yes! I ended up going to CareerSource like someone suggested and they were amazing. The DEO rep there found that my work search information was flagged for review because I used the same employer contact for multiple weeks (which is apparently not allowed). She helped me update my work search with new contacts, cleared the flag, and my payment was reissued yesterday. It took about 4 business days total to get fixed.
This is such a relief to hear you got it resolved! I'm dealing with a similar situation right now - my payment was reversed 3 days ago and I've been panicking. I checked my CONNECT account and sure enough, there's a "Work Search Review" under pending issues. I think I made the same mistake with using the same employer contact multiple times. Going to try the CareerSource route tomorrow since calling DEO directly seems impossible. Thanks for sharing the update - gives me hope that this can actually be fixed!
For anyone dealing with backdating issues: Florida state law actually requires DEO to accept backdating requests when there's evidence of system failures or other good cause reasons. Per Florida Administrative Code 73B-11.013, they must consider technical difficulties as valid reasons for late filing. Keep this regulation in mind if they initially deny your request - you can cite it in your appeal.
Wow, this thread has been incredibly helpful! I'm dealing with a similar backdating issue where my claim shows August instead of May when I first became unemployed. The CONNECT system kept timing out during my initial applications, and I have email confirmations showing my attempts. Reading through everyone's advice, I'm going to submit the formal backdate request through the "Request to Modify Claim Date" option and try calling at 7:30am sharp tomorrow. Thanks especially to @Sean Doyle and @Diego Vargas for the detailed step-by-step instructions - this community is a lifesaver when DEO's own help resources are so lacking!

The DEO SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO MAKE YOU GIVE UP!!! They don't want to pay benefits so they make it IMPOSSIBLE to complete applications!!! I spent 9 WEEKS trying to get my application processed and only succeeded when I contacted my state representative's office. They have special liaisons who can cut through the red tape. Email your rep ASAP!!!!!

•While I understand your frustration, the system isn't actually designed to make people give up. It's just severely underfunded and running on outdated technology. The CONNECT system was built in 2013 and wasn't designed to handle the volume of claims they process now. But contacting your state representative is excellent advice - they do have dedicated DEO liaisons who can escalate issues.

UPDATE: I wanted to let everyone know what finally worked for me! I tried the Claimyr service that was recommended here, and I was connected to a DEO agent in about 35 minutes. The agent was able to see that my application was stuck because of an identity verification issue (my driver's license expiration date was entered incorrectly). She fixed it on the spot, and my application status changed from 'pending submission' to 'submitted' immediately! Now I just have to wait for the standard processing time. Thank you all for your suggestions - this forum saved my sanity!

•That's awesome news! I've been following this thread because I'm having similar issues with my application being stuck. Going to try the Claimyr service tomorrow morning. Quick question - did they charge you for the service or is it free? And how long did the whole process take from when you first contacted them to getting connected with the DEO agent?

•@Ethan Wilson The Claimyr service does charge a fee I (think it was around $20 but) honestly it was worth every penny after 6 weeks of getting nowhere on my own. The whole process took about 45 minutes total - I submitted my request through their website, they called me back within 10 minutes to confirm my info, then called again about 35 minutes later when they had a DEO agent on the line. Way better than spending hours every day redialing! Just make sure you have all your documents ready ID, (SSN, employer info because) once you get connected, you want to be able to answer everything quickly.
