If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

btw be careful when u finally do get to make corrections! sometimes the system will randomly reset other sections when u update one part. happened to me and i didnt notice until after i resubmitted. make sure u review EVERYTHING again before final submit

Oh no, I hadn't even thought about that! Thanks for the warning - I'll definitely review the entire application before submitting corrections.

Update: I just checked the FSA website and they've posted about a known issue with the 2025-2026 FAFSA review cycles. They're currently experiencing longer than normal processing times when schools are added to existing applications. The good news is they're prioritizing applications with upcoming deadlines, so make sure to call and mention your son's priority deadline when you speak with them.

This is so helpful! Thank you for checking and letting me know. I'll definitely mention the deadline when I call them tomorrow.

To clarify some confusion in this thread: For 2025-2026 FAFSA purposes, your situation falls under the "special case" rules. Since you have 100% physical custody and claim your daughter on taxes, she is automatically considered your dependent for FAFSA purposes regardless of the financial support test. This is specifically addressed in the FSA Handbook section on household size for independent students. Government benefits received for the child (SNAP, WIC, etc.) actually count as support YOU provide. So you're absolutely correct to include her in your household size, and doing so will help your SAI calculation significantly.

Thank you for explaining it so clearly! That makes me feel much better. Do you know if I need to do anything special when entering her information, or just include her in the household size number?

0 coins

You'll just include her in your household size number when asked. The new FAFSA form is actually clearer about this than previous versions. There's a specific question about 'dependents who receive more than half their support from you' - and for the reasons I explained, your daughter qualifies. If selected for verification later, you'd primarily need to show she lives with you (custody agreement, school/daycare records listing you as guardian, medical records, etc.) and your tax return showing you claimed her.

I was in this same situation!!! my daughter was 3 when i went back to school and i only made like $12k but she lived with me full time. I DID include her in my household size and i got way more financial aid bc of it (full pell grant + state grants). i think they look at household size vs income so having her counted helped me qualify for more. never got any questions about it either

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but there is also a specific lockout happening for students who have ANY mismatch between their FSA ID information and their Social Security Administration records. Even something small like using "Wm" instead of "William" or a hyphenated last name can trigger it with the new system. Had one student who couldn't access because they had moved and their address didn't match what SSA had on file!

Oh wow, I hadn't considered this. Several of my students have hyphenated last names or recently moved. I'll ask them to double-check that their information exactly matches what's on their Social Security cards. Thank you!

Update: FSA just released a statement about this issue. It's officially acknowledged as a system-wide problem affecting approximately 5-7% of all active FSA ID accounts. They're implementing a fix by this weekend that should automatically resolve most cases. For urgent cases (students with approaching deadlines), they've established a dedicated helpline: 1-888-FSA-HELP (select option 4, then 2). This line is specifically for account access issues and has shorter wait times than the regular support line.

Thank you for this crucial update! I hadn't seen the announcement yet. I'll share this dedicated helpline with my students who have upcoming deadlines. Hopefully the automatic fix this weekend will resolve the issues for everyone else. I really appreciate everyone's help with this!

After reading through your situation more carefully, I have one more suggestion. Ask your school's financial aid office specifically about a "Professional Judgment Review" or "Special Circumstances Review." Explain that you've submitted FAFSA but it's delayed in processing. Some schools have authority to make provisional financial aid offers based on estimated information, which can later be adjusted once your official SAI comes in. They might be reluctant to mention this option unless you specifically ask for it by name.

I just called and asked about this! The financial aid counselor said they can potentially do a "preliminary aid package" based on our previous year's FAFSA and tax returns, which would at least give us access to some loans to start with. We have an appointment tomorrow morning to bring in all our documentation. Thank you SO much for this suggestion!

i had this same issue but with verification that took forever!!! finally got through on the phone after trying for weeks and they told me my fafsa was selected for verification but they never sent me the notification!! like how was i supposed to know?? maybe yours is stuck in verification too? worth asking when u finally reach someone

Mei Chen

That's a good point! I'll definitely ask about verification status when I finally reach someone. This whole process has been a nightmare. The financial aid system seems designed to be as complicated and frustrating as possible.

Waht about parent plus loans? Thats what we ended up doing when my sons aid wasnt enough

0 coins

We're trying to avoid loans if possible, especially since my daughter plans to go to grad school eventually. But you're right, that might be our backup plan if we can't get the aid package adjusted.

Just wanted to update that after I dealt with a similar issue, we got our daughter's SAI reduced by almost $7,000! It took about 3 weeks from correction to getting a revised aid package, but it was absolutely worth it. Her grant increased by $3,500 for the year. Definitely don't give up on this!

That's so encouraging to hear! I just submitted the correction online and sent an email to the financial aid office explaining the situation. Fingers crossed we get similar results! Thanks for sharing your success story.
