Hope this helps! The main thing is don't assume you don't qualify - let Washington ESD make that determination. You might be surprised and actually meet the requirements.
Good thread! This info will probably help other people in similar situations too. The work requirements are one of those things everyone wonders about but nobody really explains clearly.
If anyone else has questions about workers comp and unemployment, definitely try that Claimyr thing to talk to an actual ESD person. Way easier than trying to guess from online info.
One more thing about the maximum - make sure your employer reported your wages correctly to Washington ESD. I had an issue where one of my previous employers under-reported my wages and it affected my benefit calculation. Had to get that corrected before I could get the full amount I was eligible for.
Thanks everyone for all the info! This thread has been super helpful. Sounds like $999 is the max but most people won't qualify for that amount unless they were making really good money. At least now I know what to expect when I file my claim.
This has been such a helpful thread! I'm bookmarking it in case I ever need to file unemployment in the future. You never know when layoffs might happen.
Final reminder for the OP - don't delay filing once you're unemployed. Every week you wait is a potential week of benefits you could lose. Washington ESD doesn't backdate claims very often.

Pro tip: Set up your SecureAccess Washington (SAW) account before you need it. That's how you access all the Washington ESD online services and it can take a day or two to get verified.

•I'll do that today. Better to have it ready than scramble to set it up when I need it.

•Smart move. Having your SAW account ready makes the whole unemployment application process much smoother.

Just want to echo what others said about Washington having unemployment benefits. I collected for 4 months last year after a plant closure and the benefits really helped bridge the gap while I found new work.

•That's exactly what I'm hoping for - just something to help while I job search. Glad to hear it worked out for you.

•It's not fun being unemployed but at least Washington makes the benefits relatively accessible compared to some states I've heard about.
