One more thing - when you're filling out the application, be completely honest about why you were fired. Don't try to sugar-coat it or make it sound better than it was. Washington ESD will find out the truth anyway when they contact your employer.
If you do get approved and your employer contests it, don't panic. You'll get a hearing where you can explain your side. Having documentation of your efforts to improve performance will be really valuable then. Good luck with your claim!
Good luck with your appeal! It sounds like you have a strong case since you have the documentation showing you were laid off. Washington ESD makes mistakes sometimes but they're usually willing to correct them when presented with the right evidence.
Just to recap the key points for anyone else reading this: 1) Include your claim number and determination date, 2) Be specific about why you disagree, 3) Include supporting documents, 4) Send certified mail, 5) Keep filing weekly claims, 6) Sign and date your letter. Following these steps should give you the best chance of success with Washington ESD.
thanks everyone for explaining this. i was also confused but now i get it. unemployment rate = big picture economy stuff. my benefits = my personal wage history. simple enough
Update: I'm going to call Washington ESD tomorrow to check on my wage records. If I can't get through I'll try that Claimyr service someone mentioned. Thanks for all the help!
honestly at this point I'm just going to try that claimyr thing too, this is ridiculous

For anyone still reading this thread, remember that Washington ESD has resources available beyond just the phone lines. The online messaging system, WorkSource offices, and community partners can all provide assistance during these high-volume periods.

•The messaging system through your online account can be particularly useful for non-urgent questions that don't require immediate phone support.

•Though even the messaging system seems slower to respond than usual lately.

•Glad this discussion helped! And seriously, if you're still having trouble reaching Washington ESD, give Claimyr a try. Made such a difference for my situation.
