Final thought - low unemployment in 2024 might actually mean faster processing times since Washington ESD probably has fewer claims to handle compared to high unemployment periods. Silver lining!
Update: Used Claimyr after seeing it mentioned here and finally got through to Washington ESD. My claim was actually approved 3 days ago but I never got the notification. Definitely recommend trying it if you're stuck waiting.
That's great news! I'm going to try Claimyr today. Really appreciate everyone's help in this thread
For the original poster - definitely call Washington ESD or use that Claimyr service someone mentioned to get your exact benefit duration. Everyone's situation is different based on their work history and earnings. Don't just assume you get the full 26 weeks.
Yeah I think I need to get specific information about my case rather than trying to figure it out from general information online.
Just wanted to add that if you exhaust your regular 26 weeks and there's no extended benefits available, you might want to look into retraining programs through WorkSource. Some of them provide income support while you learn new skills.
Washington state has some of the better unemployment benefits compared to other states. The maximum weekly amount is pretty decent and they've improved the online system a lot over the past few years.
If you're really worried about timing, you could always try calling Washington ESD to confirm when it was mailed. Though getting through to them is a nightmare.
I tried calling them yesterday about my adjudication issue and gave up after 2 hours on hold. Someone mentioned this Claimyr thing earlier - might be worth trying that instead.

The amount you get also depends on when you apply. They look at different base periods depending on when you file, so timing can matter if you had varying income throughout the year.

•I got laid off just last week so I'm filing pretty much right away. Hopefully that works in my favor.

•Filing right away is usually the best approach. Waiting doesn't help and you can't get benefits for weeks before you actually file.

If you end up having issues with your claim or questions about your benefit amount, definitely try that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier. I used it when I couldn't get through to Washington ESD about my weekly benefit amount being calculated wrong. Much easier than spending all day calling.

•I'll keep that in mind if I run into any problems. Hopefully the process goes smoothly though.
