Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

If your benefit seems wrong, don't wait to question it. I waited 6 weeks before contacting ESD about an error and it took forever to get it fixed retroactively.
How did you finally get it resolved? Did you have to appeal or just call them?
I had to call and provide documentation. Took multiple calls but they eventually corrected it and paid me the back pay I was owed.
Thanks everyone for all the helpful info! I'm going to check my monetary determination against my pay stubs and if there are discrepancies, I'll try using Claimyr to get through to an ESD agent. This thread has been super helpful.

Just want to add - don't give up. 8 months feels like forever but the right opportunity will come along. Keep refining your approach and staying persistent. The job market is tough right now but it's not impossible.

One last suggestion - check with local churches and community organizations even if you're not religious. Many have emergency assistance funds that don't require you to be a member.
That's a good point. I know there's a big church near me that always has signs about community help programs.
Worth a shot. Many of them can help with utilities, groceries, or even small amounts of cash assistance for emergencies.
Following this thread because I'm in a similar situation. My benefits end next month and I'm terrified. At least now I have some idea of what steps to take.
Don't wait until the last minute like I did. Start making those calls and applications now while you still have some benefits coming in.
Smart to start planning ahead. Having a month to prepare puts you in a much better position than scrambling after benefits end.

Update: I filed my claim this morning and got a confirmation number. Thanks everyone for the advice! The process was actually easier than I expected. Now I just need to wait for the determination letter.

Final thought - if you do end up needing to file, try to do it early in the week and early in the day. The system tends to be less busy and you might have better luck getting through if you need help.
