one thing im confused abt - i thought adjudication was only when theres a problem? why would they put u in adjudication if they ended up approving u without asking for more info? esd makes no sense sometimes lol
Common misconception. Adjudication doesn't always mean there's a problem that requires claimant action. It can simply mean ESD needs to verify information internally or is waiting on employer responses. Many claims go through adjudication and get approved without the claimant ever needing to provide additional documentation.
The real frustration is that they expect US to meet all their deadlines for weekly claims and job search activities, but THEY can take as long as they want with no communication or accountability. It's a completely one-sided system.
wait so we r supposed to still do the 3 job search things even if we already got a job??? that seems so pointless, why would i look for more jobs when i already accepted one?? the esd system makes no sense smh
My sister had a similar situation but her benefits got cut off immediately when she reported accepting a job, even though it didn't start for almost a month! She had to appeal and it was a huge mess. I think it depends on which ESD agent processes your claim tbh. Some follow the rules exactly, others make up their own interpretations.
That shouldn't have happened - it sounds like either there was a misunderstanding when she reported the job, or possibly a system error. The official ESD policy is clear that benefits continue until you start working as long as you maintain eligibility. If anyone experiences their benefits being cut off prematurely after reporting a future start date, they should immediately contact ESD for clarification and correction.
I've been on unemployment twice now. First time in 2022 and now again since January. I've noticed my payments come faster with my credit union than they did with Chase. So your bank might make a difference too in how quickly it shows up. Just thought I'd mention that since nobody else did.
To summarize for you and future readers: 1. First payment: May take longer (1-3 weeks) due to initial verification 2. Regular payments after established claim: - File Sunday → Payment Tuesday-Wednesday (direct deposit) - File Sunday → Payment Wednesday-Thursday (debit card) 3. Factors that can delay payment: - Holidays (both ESD and bank holidays) - Answering questions incorrectly - Missing job search activities - Claim issues requiring adjudication Hope this helps with your planning!
Update: I tried several of the suggestions here. The formal complaint through the ESD website got me an automated response saying they'd review within 7 days. I also visited my state rep's office in person yesterday and spoke with a staff member who took down all my information and said they'd send an inquiry to their ESD liaison. They seemed much more helpful than when I just emailed!\n\nI'm also going to try Claimyr tomorrow if I don't hear anything back. Thank you all for the suggestions. Will update if anything works!

•That's great news! Glad you got your money. I'm definitely learning that these delays happen occasionally and not to panic right away.
