Remember that your first payment might take an extra day or two while they set everything up. After that it should be smooth sailing with regular timing.
Just want to add that the maximum benefit amount can change during the year if there are legislative updates, so always check the current rates on the Washington ESD website. The $999 max is accurate for early 2025 but could potentially change.
One more tip - if you're laid off, file your claim as soon as possible. There's a waiting period before benefits start, so the sooner you file the sooner you'll start receiving payments. Don't wait thinking you might find another job quickly.
Next time this happens, check the Washington ESD Twitter account. They usually post about closures there.
Thanks everyone for all the helpful info! I feel much better now knowing I won't lose my benefits for filing tomorrow. This community is awesome for figuring out all the Washington ESD quirks.
And remember that Claimyr option if you ever need to actually talk to someone at Washington ESD. Made a huge difference for me.
For what it's worth, I used that Claimyr service too after seeing it mentioned here. Really did help me get through to Washington ESD faster than calling on my own. The agent clarified some confusion I had about my remaining benefit weeks.
Bottom line - most people get 26 weeks if they worked steadily before filing. Check your Washington ESD account for your specific situation, keep filing weekly claims, do your job searches, and don't wait until the last minute to find work.

Bottom line - quitting makes unemployment harder but not impossible if you have good cause. Just make sure you can prove that good cause with documentation.
