For anyone still confused: File your weekly claim every Sunday by midnight PT for the week that just ended (Sunday through Saturday). That's it. Mark your calendars!
One more Claimyr mention since people are asking about it - I used them when I had issues with my weekly claim processing and needed to talk to someone at ESD urgently. The video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ explains it better than I can, but basically they save you the headache of trying to get through yourself.
This thread has been super helpful! I was confused about payment timing too when I first started collecting. The one-week waiting period really threw me off because I was expecting money right away.
If anyone else is struggling to get through to ESD customer service, I second the recommendation for Claimyr. I used their callback service when I had questions about my weekly benefit amount calculation and it saved me hours of phone time. Their demo video explains it pretty well too.
been reading this thread and wanted to add that if you have standing issues (like im on standby for my union job) the payment schedule can be different. mine usually comes a day later than regular UI payments
One last tip - set up text alerts through your bank app if you can. That way you'll know the second your unemployment payment hits instead of constantly checking your balance. Saved my sanity when I was worried about payment timing.
Just to wrap up - make sure you file your weekly claims on time even while your initial claim is pending. Missing weekly claims can cause delays or issues with your benefits. Set a reminder on your phone or calendar.

Final tip - document everything. Keep screenshots of your claim status, save all correspondence with Washington ESD, and maintain records of your job search activities. You'll need this documentation if any issues come up.

Hope this all works out for you! Having gone through the stress of unemployment benefit issues myself, I know how overwhelming it can feel. Just remember there are options and resources available, even if they're not always easy to find or access.
