Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Been there! Started part-time work 3 weeks into my unemployment claim. Washington ESD was totally fine with it. They actually have a whole section on their website about working while collecting benefits. Check out the 'Working While Receiving Benefits' page - it explains everything clearly.
I'll check that page out. Having official documentation would make me feel more confident about taking the job.
The bottom line is Washington ESD wants people to work. Part-time work shows you're motivated and actively trying to improve your situation. As long as you report everything honestly and keep looking for full-time work, you'll be fine. Don't let fear of losing benefits keep you from earning extra income.

One more tip - if your benefit amount seems too low, you might want to check if you qualify for alternate base year. That uses more recent wages which could result in higher benefits if you've been working more recently.
How do you know if you qualify for that?
Washington ESD should automatically check if you qualify when they process your claim, but you can also request it if you think your recent wages were higher than your regular base year.
Bottom line is the amount varies a lot based on your work history. I know people getting anywhere from $300 to $900+ per week depending on their previous jobs and hours worked.
Hopefully mine will be on the higher end since I worked full time with decent pay.
You should be fine if you had steady work. The people with really low benefits usually had sporadic employment or very low wages.

One more consideration - if your severance puts you over the income threshold for any other assistance programs you might be eligible for, factor that into your decision. But from a pure Washington ESD unemployment perspective, you should be fine to take both.
