Five weeks is definitely longer than normal for a simple claim. Something might be stuck in the system that needs manual review. Getting an agent on the phone is really your best bet at this point.
That's what I'm starting to think too. Going to look into that Claimyr service people keep mentioning and see if I can finally get some answers.
Make sure you keep your address updated with Washington ESD. I moved during my claim and almost missed important notices because I forgot to update my address online.
Last thing - don't panic if your claim goes into adjudication. It's pretty common and usually gets resolved within a few weeks. Just be patient and respond to any requests for information quickly.
hope everything works out! getting fired sucks but at least washington has decent unemployment benefits compared to some states
Thanks for asking this question OP. I'm in a similar situation and this discussion has given me a lot to think about for planning ahead.
The system really should have better transition support but it is what it is. Focus on what you can control - expanding your search, networking, maybe picking up some temp work to keep income flowing.

Good luck with your claim! The unemployment process can be stressful but at least Washington ESD is generally fair about these things if you follow the rules.

One last tip - make sure you start looking for work right away even while your claim is being processed. Washington ESD requires job search activities and it's better to get started early.

•Yes, and keep detailed records of your job search activities. You'll need to report them when filing your weekly claims.
