Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Whatever you do, don't trust the automated estimate when you first file. Mine was off by like $200/week and I didn't find out until I talked to an actual person.
How do you get to talk to an actual person though? Every time I call I just get transferred around or hung up on.

For anyone still reading this - I found that Washington ESD also sends email reminders about filing your weekly claim if you sign up for notifications.

Just want to add that even if you think you might not qualify, it's often worth applying anyway. The worst they can do is deny your claim, and sometimes people are surprised to find out they do qualify. The eligibility rules can be complex and there are exceptions for various situations.
That's encouraging. I guess I'll go ahead and file since I was laid off through no fault of my own.
Definitely file soon! And make sure you have all your employment information ready - dates of employment, employer contact info, and reason for separation for all jobs in the past 18 months.
Good luck with your claim! The process can be stressful but most people who are legitimately eligible do eventually get their benefits. Just be patient and persistent, especially if you run into any delays or issues.

just remember that unemployment is temporary - the goal is to find another job not live on benefits forever. that said the weekly amounts definitely help bridge the gap while you're searching

For OP - based on your $52K salary, you're probably looking at somewhere between $280-320 per week depending on how your earnings were distributed throughout the year. Not great but better than nothing while you job hunt.

Just make sure you're actively job searching and keeping track of your contacts. Washington ESD requires 3 job search activities per week.

Just remember that unemployment statistics only tell part of the story. Labor force participation rates, wage growth, job quality - all that stuff matters too for understanding economic hardship.

If you need help getting specific data from Washington ESD for your research, their customer service can be hard to reach. I've had good luck with Claimyr for getting through to actual people there when I needed claim information.
